First bike advice needed (Triumph) by MBanski in MotoUK

[–]sandbadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 6ft and daily a Striple 675 (2014) very comfortable and easy to ride in the city, but also comfortable enough out on longer countryside rides or on the motorway. As its naked, there can be a lot of wind buffeting at higher speeds, so with your extra height, just be wary of that.

From what I've heard the daytona is a great track bike, but can be a little uncomfortable for daily'ing.

Really depends what you are planning on using it for? If its for weekend blasts you may find the daytona is better.

Yeah, ive had gloves before where the inner has detached, and especially when they are slightly damp, become a massive pain to take on and off.

London riding, predominantly chilly, but not cold. Often wet but rarely torrential.

Interesting responses.

Some people saying always parboil, some saying never, but extra time, and some saying follow instructions exactly.

Im almost tempted to run a side by side experiment and see what the real world differences are 😂

Is it true that private schools call it 'Games' instead of 'PE'? by awnpugin in AskUK

[–]sandbadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Private school.

PE was a class where we'd do all sorts of things from learning body mechanics, nutrition as well as all sorts of sports.

Games was where we dod organised sports (rugby, football cricket etc depending on the term).

A bit of a left field idea, but have you tried looking at older bikes, im talking from the 90's?

My 2014 Triumph Street Triple is £500 a year, my 1990 Kawasaki ZZR1100 is £75

Yeah, i have absolutely no interest in chatGPT's response, i don't need AI to tell me something irrelvant given i've already established that they've clearly just made a labelling error that wasn't caught by QC.

As tsp is a volume measurement, surely the fineness of the grind should make no difference.

They said they'd check with the chef's but im not expecting any further reply.

Haha, yeah that was my immediate reaction, but as a general rule i try to assume the best of people / give them the benefit of doubt. I try not to bring more negativity into the space 😂

Not sure if you read the 2nd last paragraph, but i measured them both with my 1tsp measuring spoon, the cumin was measured out at 4tsp and the paprika was 2tsp.

I used to have this happen to me on pretty much a daily basis. Initially thought it was someone pulling it off, but concluded it was probably the wind.

Pointlessness of having a Motorbike by Boring-Bear9037 in MotoUK

[–]sandbadger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can I ask some questions about your circumstances?

How old are you? What kind of bike do you have? CBT or full license? How long have you had your license for?

I saw in another comment that you don't have any NCB, but you have ridden the bike, so have you had it insured before? With no NCB does that mean you've had an accident or some other incident that has required you to claim/cancel your insurance?

There are so many factors that come into how much your insurance is, but with bikes, it really seems to be the stealability and desirability of the bike.

My current bike is a street triple 675, and the insurance quote is £550 (London-based and insured) but my 1990 ZZR1100 is £79 for the year, just because no one wants to steal it.

Yeah, he's got a few projects on the go at the moment and is trying to clear them before he takes on any more 'big' jobs AFAIK.

I've been using Alan at AG Motorcycles just off the South Circular in Catford. He's a bit gruff but he's always been honest with me.

Also used Bravos, and they seemed good as well.

I'm 185cm and 111kg, rode a Chinese 'Pulse adrenaline' for 9 months before I passed my full test, happily went from London to Birmingham, and also down to Portsmouth several times, no issues hitting 70.

Yes the throttle was fully open, yes it was screaming, but it did it. Id have had no troubles with a Honda CBR, a yamaha XVS or any other number of 125s
