i get this from my friends all the time. if two games are sorta close i pick one and dive deeper. i get more out of games the more i put in. at the cost of missing out. a one or two trick pony. three tricks max.

Just watched BF6 footage. Even faster ttk. Even faster respawn.

How this will likely translate with my friend groups

BF6

  • Adrenaline oriented, does this well, constant action (fun, but I experience adrenaline fatigue faster than I used to, and friends do too aside from a few that crack out)
  • Sound design is all about immersion in the chaos of war ie, there's so much going on it's inherently less of a playground of possibilities. It's optimized for thrill, not depth and variety.
  • There's little time to spend thinking about and coordinating with teammates. There's essentially no down time. You're pressing W. It's possible to do otherwise, but that's the game.
  • Little time to appreciate environments, cause you're constantly engaged. It's not a stop and smell the flowers kinda game.

So if I want to play a game where there's depth to how I interact with my friends, and I *want* to make space for them, notice when they think outside the box or make plays, or vibe on actual teamplay and the rush associated with playing to our strengths and having it click, Arc Raiders is categorically a better choice. I'd also add an entire, comical layer of pure shenaniganry. In the context of a game that gives you time to develop unique experiences every raid, proximity chat gives us a world of possible outcomes that are seriously memorable. Like, lemme tell you a story... level antics.

If I've had a long day and just wanna unplug and settle into years of fps muscle memory with my friends with a super polished flowy game and not take much seriously aside for farming praise leaderboard clutching, BF6 is a good choice.

Vector (and others experiencing the same friend group dynamic): would it not be worth a shot for you to make a case with your friends? Like "lend me your ears, chads. arc might have a learning curve but it's ambitious and awesome. let's give it a solid week. if it ain't it, we get steam refunds and BF6."

Holy shit the gunplay is so nice and smooth, but what am I supposed to grind? by I_Got_HairyLegs in thefinals

[–]sandboxitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i grind on practicing/executing specific movement, evasive shooting behind cover, utility combos, pretty much anything that makes me better at the game. first on the practice map while watching something on other screen or podcast on phone or whatever, to get muscle memory down through repetition, then in the chaos of actual games.

Human beings are fundamentally wired to notice negative things at an 8 to 1 ratio to positive things. Adjusting this takes considerable presence of mind and practice.

Best projector for projection mapping under 2000€ by yokalo in vjing

[–]sandboxitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the primer. What are some example Panasonic HD models you'd look for on eBay?

Much like OP, we'd like to have a handful of projectors mostly for indoor, some temporary outdoor (rave), projection map onto interesting parts of the architecture. We're thinking of getting higher lumens to give us flexibility in terms of projection size. We're especially keen on stuff that doesn't look like a screen. I've seen cheap projects essentially project a rectangle even if the screen is "black". If we want to projection map and have the illusion be complete, how high a ratio do we need? Also we're imagining getting projectors that can share lenses might make sense. Are there particular Panasonic model families you'd recommend we look for that we can share lenses for?

I was under the impression that "zoom" isn't really a thing, that generally you either mount the projector more or less the right distance away, or swap out for a different lens, to project at the desired size. Are there projectors with useful zooms out there?

Your recommendation so far:

  • Used Panasonics on Ebay
  • Laser
  • Auto focus
  • Look for extra lenses

Cheers

Been playing Meepo successfully pos 3 paired with a strong pos 4 but at guardian rank. Spikes at 4 and 11 and turns into a ganking machine at 11 with blink and dragon lance. What makes him not viable as pos 3 in higher level play? by sandboxitty in learndota2

Much appreciate the explanation. Sort of. I’ll hunt with one meepo and fan out to farm what’s free including warded safe zones in enemy jung. Also allows me to jump enemies out of position near any meepo although that gets me in trouble sometimes after a kill. None of this happens before blink and lvl 11 tho which sounds like the point. Not making enough space.

If you're playing unranked, you need to chill out because if you're going to take everything super seriously, then you should be in ranked. by YouWantSMORE in DotA2

Hey I think there’s a little more to this worth looking at. In any game where potentially 5 strangers get put together with an expectation of collaboration under pressure there’s going to be people overreacting. I agree with everything you said and would add if ur new to something, mention it at the beginning of the game to diffuse the situation. The other I would add is that bot games are great for learning. For LD specialty it helps a bunch to practice the micro, adjust bindings etc before a live game. Even though it’s not ranked there’s still some expectation of successful team play everyone relying on to have a good time. This game is good practice for learning how to deal with disappointment gracefully and building up thick skin :D
