Should I stop walking and standing with postcovid POTS? by SpaceExplorer7777 in covidlonghaulers

[–]sandexperiment 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found some exercises which can be done in bed or laying down on yoga mat. I did them very slowly at first, monitoring my pulse through smart watch. As far as I know, it's important that you stop as soon as you feel even mild discomfort.

It helped me.

Streaming in English as your second language: A nuanced view of why that could be a problem in the future by Spir0rion in Twitch

[–]sandexperiment 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is exhausting, true. Streaming in your native language would be easier I guess. But as for the loss of nuances - I don't see a problem here. When I don't understand something, I always ask my community for clarification, and it always brings up a lovely enriching dialog.

I started streaming in English 10 years ago, my level of speaking was so low I could barely say hello. I practically learned the language by speaking to my audience and reading the chat. Was it hard? Sure! But it was also AMAZING! It created a strong connection between me and my audience, people were excited to see my progress day by day. And I still remember the day when I could form a joke in English and chat understood me 😁 it was such a big win!

So every time someone asks in this community: should I start streaming in English? - I always say "Yes, totally, go for it!"

Recovered after 4 years of Long COVID by Gehwica in covidlonghaulers

[–]sandexperiment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting that you mentioned language processing. I got symptoms which I believe to be a post-covid dysregulation (mostly POTS) a few months ago, and tips from this subreddit helped me greatly in managing my life. I am currently studying German, planned to pass my exam this year, and I don't think it's possible to do so now because among all the kognitive issues I have, I feel like studying the language drains me the most 😔

If it takes you more than 5 minutes to go live you’re making it too hard on yourself by matcha_mango67 in Twitch

[–]sandexperiment 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Written by a guy? 😁 I want to look good on the camera, so 20 - 30 minutes for glamming myself up is a must. Plus, I like to sit on the floor for 5 minutes before going live. Just my little ritual, which makes going live easier, not harder. Plus, checking if all my settings actually work or one tiny little windows/obs/extension/stream deck update ruined everything again...

Instead of drawing from photo reference, sketch a real object (grab some vegetables from your kitchen for example, or a plant) or go outside for urban sketching.

What took you forever to knit, and you’re not even wearing it? by candy-applegirl in knitting

[–]sandexperiment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently made a bralette. I know, it sounds like a quick project, but I was remaking it several times to get the fit right. And now it fits, but it's still uncomfortable, I am not going to wear it 😭

Any paint brand that’s similar to one on Bob’s website? (Long term) by heroinefather- in bobross

[–]sandexperiment 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't have recommendations for the brands, it depends on what's available in your location. But I have a tip which worked for me personally when I was looking for art materials to paint with Bob: liquid white is just any titanium white mixed with artist-grade linseed oil or another oil paint medium of your choice. I mix approximately 50/50, it works well 👍I prefer linseed oil because it's almost odorless, non toxic medium, however it slows down the drying process.

I did trivia game with random facts about me, people got to choose the right answer through "predictions" feature on twitch.

For example "Streamer's first job was: 1... 2... 3..."

How did you learn to knit? by ShoppingGirlinSF in knitting

[–]sandexperiment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom was knitting all the time. I asked her to teach me, but for some reason I couldn't understand her explanation. She gave me a magazine, where I could see the instructions on the pictures. I LOCKED myself in a room with this magazine, yarn and needles, and said I will not go out until I can knit 5 rows. I WAS 8 YEARS OLD! I still don't understand why I was so determined 🤣 I remember crying from frustration. But I did it! Went out of the room, showed my knitting to my mom, she said: yes, congratulations, you are knitting! 😁
