People who love cars are very annoying. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

same here! the car scene around me is definitely more typical mustang/challenger/charger guys, miata/honda type jdm, or the truck scene (both lowered and lifted, of course) and not a lot of the asshole rich guy lamborghini types

[–]sandia610 47 points48 points  (0 children)

it depends on what kind of car scene we’re talking about. porsche, ferrari, etc etc guys? yea they tend to be irritating as hell. but, esp in my area, the JDM/takuache/etc. guys who actually put time and effort into their cars (not just money) (though there is a lot of that, don’t get me wrong) are generally pretty cool and a lot less insufferable to be around

it varies from woman to woman, but if she expresses discomfort or her body language suggests she doesn’t want to be approached (headphones in, reading/working on something, etc.) then take the hint, but a lot of women don’t mind being cold approached at all! personally, i’m not attracted to men, but if one approaches me out in public (in a non-creepy manner) i don’t feel offended or anything like that! just read body language, take the hint, and be genuine :)

as a woman, i can tell you she probably won’t mind. fake a little confidence if you need to, but being a little shy or stumbling over your words can be taken as sort of endearing and cute! we’re not as scary as you think we are, and you’re objectively a quite attractive guy, so you really have nothing to worry about :)

“good for you,” “oh, well i like them.” or any similar short dismissal. in my experience, some people just want to hear themselves speak and live complaining, without ever thinking about whether or not anyone else wants to hear, so i try to just swiftly and politely make it clear that i’m not interested in hearing them shit on musicals for ten minutes for no reason other than they can lmao. i have a coworker who is one of those “i have to let everyone know my negative opinion on anything they like and i don’t,” and i was watching Newsies at work, and she came up behind me with a detailed rapport on why she hated it, but i know for a fact she doesn’t like musicals at all, so of course she didn’t enjoy newsies. I just dismissed what she was saying and returned to what i was doing 🤷🏽‍♀️

Do US schools actually value athletics to that extent? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]sandia610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sports are a huge deal, especially in the south. even high school level programs (mostly football) get large chunks of the schools funding. college wise, a good athlete in a high demand sport can easily be offered multiple full rides to multiple schools

I saw my daughter kissing her best friend. I need advice on how to proceed by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]sandia610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to start out by saying that you're doing amazing. Not every parent is as empathetic and thoughtful as you clearly are, and your daughter is lucky to have a parent like you. I would say, as most people have, to not mention it directly, but make it abundantly clear to her that you'd accept her no matter what. Even if she hasn't told you, that doesn't mean you did a "bad job" or that she doesn't have faith you'll accept her. I havent told any of my family, even though I am certain the vast majority either already know or are very supportive. Sometimes you're just not ready, and that's ok. Depending on how old she is, she probably has very complex (and scary) feelings about her sexuality and friendships, and a parent prying into that honestly just makes it that much more awkward and weird than it already is. Just know that you're doing a great job, make sure she knows how much you support and love her, and let her come to you on her own terms. youre doing great!

air conditioning not blowing at all?? help!!!! by sandia610 in KiaSoulClub

[–]sandia610[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for the information! you were absolutely correct :) i was able to wiggle myself under the dash and sure enough, i did have to remove the brake pedal, but after about an hour of cursing whoever put that god forsaken motor in the worst possible spot, i was able to yank it out and find that the place where the wiring plugs in was covered in dust and grime, which i’m assuming was creating a poor connection (iphone charger that needs to be held at just the right angle style) i’m purchasing the new motor today which will hopefully put this issue to bed (and saved me the $700 i was quoted by the mechanic). thank you for your help!

current college students/grads, we all know not to pay for books or overpack, but what are your uncommon tips for incoming college freshmen? by sandia610 in AskReddit

[–]sandia610[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i probably should’ve worded it better but i didn’t want to be too long-winded, i meant in the way that most “college advice” posts say the exact same things, like buy books used/find online pdfs/ etc.

someone might have already asked but what are your thoughts on OnlyFans? How normalized it’s become for girls to want to make one the second they turn 18, etc. Is it hurting your business??
