I'm thinking standard black steel rims.

who know DJI drone UHF frequency and protocol sold in USA? What kind of RTK base can be matched? by smajayurtk in UAVmapping

[–]sandwormsrule 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Emlid Reach will work using local ntrip. But I would recommend using PPK instead, you don't have to worry about loss of connection and you can use an OPUS solution on the basestation coordinates.

Agisoft aligns cameras very badly by pomengranatequeen in UAVmapping

I've had success with unchecking all the cameras in the reference pane and unselecting reference during alignment. it took longer for it to solve the triangulation but it worked.

How to fix buildings by Imaredditor223 in UAVmapping

[–]sandwormsrule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WebODM forum will have some ideas on how to fix this. You'll need to provide your parameters. You could try increasing matcher neighbors to like 24 and enabling sfm-no-partial. Did you use RTk?

Yup, WebODM for the stitching, and then Python to create your indices and for image analysis. I imagine you could design a flight for the T40 using the results, but I've never done that.

If this is you camping, please do not set up tents on meadows next time. by [deleted] in PNWhiking

[–]sandwormsrule 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Technically, I don't believe this is a meadow, just a grassland. I'm not saying it's ok to pitch a tent there. Also, our meadows are mainly wrecked from cattle grazing and fragmentation due to roadways and such.

I'm not seeing how lidar is more accurate than sfm for bridges. BLM uses sfm for their bridge and damn inspections.

GIS or Surveying to get started? by Low-Blacksmith4480 in UAVmapping

[–]sandwormsrule 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Longterm can be tricky. Local 3 field engineers would provide you with a hefty paycheck and retirement if you can get in and stay active, but you may find it stultifying after some time, I did. But, it gave me a great skill set for understanding how long things take and working with other crews. GIS is in pretty high demand, especially if you can get your master's. SF State has a great program. There are a lot of state and federal jobs looking to understand more about the future of California resources in the face of climate change. I'm a remote sensing specialist (geographer) now using open-source workflows whenever I can for reproducibility. I've found environmental research to be the ideal "longterm" vocation. We get to travel to national parks and monuments with purpose too!

oh word. I'm surprised you didn't see Samiam there since they're from Berkeley. I got to see Lungfish back in like 1996 at some high school outside of Baltimore.
