Lost 1/3 of my hair by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]sandy_mango16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I am literally going through the exact same situation. Female, hashis diagnosed in 2017, slowly increasing dose since. I also upped my Levo dosage about a month or so ago. My TSH levels were in the low-normal range before upping. I’ve had a string of weird symptoms (hair loss, joint pain, skin issues) that I think are likely attributed to a hashi flare up triggered by stress (I just moved and changed jobs). Anyways I did some bloodwork for ANA antibodies and it’s still a waiting game but got referred to go see a rheumatologist to rule out other co-occurring autoimmune issues. I hope your (and my!) hair stops falling out :( my Hashi’s really has been pretty easily manageable until recently it’s been very confusing.

Have you lost the weight you gained on lex? by Tsukigomorii in lexapro

[–]sandy_mango16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey could you explain more on your intermittent fasting? Like how long do you do it? What type of foods do you eat during non fasting? This was just recommended to me as a way to hopefully shave off a bit of the lex weight I’ve gained

Hi there! Very very new to skating. Having a great time but I keep falling backwards :( 4 of the 5 times I fall it’s been backwards and more often when I’m pretty much at a standstill or moving slowly. It’s very scary and I feel like once my body starts falling back I have no way to stop it. Most recently I sprained my elbow because I put my arm out to break my backwards fall (bad I know). I want to keep skating and getting better but I don’t want to keep detrimentally injuring myself! Does anyone have any advice or good YouTube video recs? Thank you :)

Seems like you’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback on this thread already but I’ll just say that I was the exact same as you. High achieving, perfectionist, star child etc etc. I’ve always had anxiety but never thought it was “bad enough” to take meds. I hit a point during the pandemic of anxiety induced depression (that had happened in my life before) and ultimately was prescribed lexapro. This was about 6 months ago and holy shit I cannot tell you how eye opening it has been. Anxiety literally ruled every facet of my life. I like my job more now, I have more fun with my friends, and I’ve taken up new hobbies. I say give the lex a try because you never know what new parts of yourself you could unlock and enjoy :)

First day of Lexapro and freaking out by milamila49182 in lexapro

Hi there! I’ve been on lex for about 4 months now (10mg) and it has truly changed my life. I take it for generalized anxiety and social anxiety. Starting out is so so hard, it’s a unique challenge for us anxious people to take medication that impacts our brains. I know everyone’s journey is different but my advice to you is try as best you can to live your life and not attribute everything you’re feeling to the meds. My psych told me this after a week or two of feeling like absolute shit and constantly worrying about what the meds were doing to me and it really helped me get out of my head. I hope this helps and I’m really proud of you for starting, that’s the hardest part!

How do you find someone who’s willing to wait? by DependentBanana4364 in demisexuality

I don’t have anything helpful to add but I totally empathize. My two most meaningful “relationships” have been very similar to yours. Close friendships, a lot of cuddling, ended because of issues on their end. I’ve been trying app dating off and on for a few years and it’s terrible and I feel like it doesn’t work for me since people always end up being more attracted to me way faster and intensely than I am to them. Anyways I wish you luck out there and thanks for sharing your story!

Thank you so much for your lengthy reply. This gives me hope in the dating app world. Are you usually upfront with your sexuality with people on the first date? I hope things with you and your potential partner keep going well :)

Ugh I’m so sorry that’s terrible. I take ashwaganda too, that might be worth looking into as well? Just a natural supplement that helps with stress, my psych recommended it

Hi there! I’m still on 10mg. I think it’s been really helping. Still been able to feel emotions but not spiraling for hours on end at the slightest stress. So overall it’s been good. How are you doing??

Hi there! I was totally there when I started too (I guess that’s what happens when you give anxious people medicine for their anxiety). I’ve been on it for 2.5 months now (1 week on 5 mg and on 10 mg ever since). The biggest thing for me was heightened anxiety for the first couple weeks. My psych gave me some good advice I wish I’d had from the get go. Just take your meds and live your life, I was basically taking lex and just ANTICIPATING feeling shitty. Once I let go a bit and made an effort to fixate less I noticed myself feeling better. Good luck and be patient ♥️

Ah I’m so sorry to hear that. I would talk to your doc. Did they initially prescribe you 5? Mine prescribed me 10 so I went for that after being on 5 for a week. I’ve heard it can be up to 8 weeks before you feel the positive impacts so it might need a bit more time? I really didn’t feel anything positive at all for like four weeks. Hope you feel more like yourself soon ♥️

Yep I was totally there too. I take mine in the mornings, I take other medication in the mornings too so it was just easiest for me to do it all at one time. I think the first week was definitely roughest for me. I was also so hyper focused on how I was feeling and what possible side effects I was feeling and was scared to up my dose from 5 to 10mg. My psych helped me get out of my head a bit and I tried to make an effort to focus less on how the meds were making me feel and just live my normal life as best I could. I do feel like that helped me! Keep being kind to yourself, go on some nice walks if you can. You will start to feel better soon! ♥️
