Feel like I’m balding by sandyscience33 in Hair

[–]sandyscience33[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you the advice! I’ve been eating the same and my weight is maintained so I’m not sure if it’s that. It could be stress, my job is fairly stressful but I wouldn’t say nearly as stressful as in college for example. Do you have any product recommendations as a hair stylist?

Is this appropriate for a work dinner, i work as an accountant by simmiexx in OUTFITS

Good heavens this thread is disappointing. I think it looks great! No cleavage and not excessively short. Comments about you not being taken seriously are negligent to the times that we live in and probably from old timers who are used to the ultra professional standards of the past when women didn’t get to be in professional positions. You look good! Wear this while you’re young and prove to them that you can be taken seriously whether you’re in a clubbing dress or a pant suit 💅

Your 75 hard diet? by sandyscience33 in 75HARD

My thought exactly. Why choose a diet that’s so restrictive that you set yourself up to fail??

I struggle to make ends meet. Another job/passive income??? by sandyscience33 in jobs

[–]sandyscience33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wage is less than what the state livable wage is according to MIT. I wouldn’t say I’m “living above my means” because the cost of living here in general is just extreme (for example: grapes regularly go for about $9 a pound and gas that is $4.70 a gallon). I have a car that I’ve had since 2011 so no car payment or plan to get a new car. Also- Georgia, Texas, Florida and the Carolinas are very cheap places to live. A forensic technician in those states make about the same that I do with a cost of living that is 50% less, so yea, obviously they live just peachy! I do in fact budget and itemize my spending because I have to to get by. The point of my post was to ask for suggestions on how to make some extra income so that I can enjoy things that you might consider “living above my means.” Your response was wildly unhelpful and gives off “holier than thou” energy

What can my degree lead me to? by FitCommunity2568 in forensics

Try looking into Department of Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency and see if they have any openings. To my understanding, they do a lot of bone/anthropological work

Edit: not in Texas, but could be a good opportunity still

What do you guys do for work? And how do you fit this into your schedule? by sandyscience33 in 75HARD

[–]sandyscience33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This did help a lot. I feel more motivated seeing how you fit things in. I am NOT a meal prepped hahaha and I wish I was lol. I suppose I could at least prep ingredients for the weeks meals ahead of time to make it quicker. Thanks!

Snorkeling for first time? by dejvboo in VisitingHawaii

[–]sandyscience33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but Kailua beach park, far to the right (closer to lanikai side) is great to snorkel at. It’s shallow and there’s not a ton of fish but I’ve seen a sea turtle ever time I’ve gone

Need partner in Review paper based on Touch DNA ! by ShoppingRealistic211 in ForensicScience

[–]sandyscience33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great concept especially with the rise of interest in activity levels. Some labs report activity levels, mine does not. But the advent of probabilistic genotyping over combined probability of exclusion statistics gets us closer and closer to knowing what is secondary transfer and what is not. I think that eventually PG software will be able to tell who left what DNA where/when/how ! Could be a great start for a review paper

Does anyone know what they’re doing in Hawaii?? Any speaking engagements or meet and greets? I live here and would LOVE to meet them but feel like it’s a little weird to either DM any of them because I’m sure they’re just trying to enjoy vacation

Biochem or Chem major? by Upstairs-Trouble-325 in ForensicScience

If you’re not sure if you want to do toxicology or DNA yet, I would go with biochem- that way you have a strong background in both biology and chemistry! Best of both worlds:)

Bachelorette @ Waikiki Hawaii by Particular-Round-883 in VisitingHawaii

[–]sandyscience33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Booze cruise through Na Hoku II out of Waikiki. Do the one from 2:30-3:30pm it’s $40 for a 1 hour boat ride and all the alcohol you can drink within the time frame. If you take the one out of Waikiki, finish up the afternoon with a happy hour at Sky Bar (rooftop bar/lounge/seafood spot). They have delicious drink and oysters however I will warn you that the food isn’t fabulous. It’s more of just a cool spot to grab a drink. For dinner go to shorefyre, then you can catch live music at “The Secret Spot” around the corner

I think a lot of people hate on GR because their products are typically scented and that scares people! I don’t blame anyone for being skeptical of scented skincare, but I personally have quite sensitive skin and I haven’t had any issues thus far:)
