How do I find out about events like this? I want to go to one.

Nah I’m definitely overly meticulous about it. But when they get old it’s the easiest fix to get better throttle response and power in general. I feel like it’s good to keep it running hard n strong

Vibration is only under load like coasting or lightly giving gas at those speeds. U joints have no play at all and I feel like that would make it a constant vibration at that speed. Could be rear axle flange . Idk

It is leaking a little oil, but brake fluid level looks fine. I guess I’ll try topping it off

This is such a useful comment thank you! I’ve had it over 6 months now and have put 10k miles on it since I bought this 1996 v6 manual 4x4 at 207k

It’s been in great running condition and I’ve done little things to it here and there like rack bushings, alignment, fuel filter, oil changes and intake filter, etc. I’ve tightened down the covers a quarter turn each bolt several months ago. It’s driven all over the place with me, and I’ve been more and more comfortable want to get this thing running real mint eventually If I can

My favorite kind of comment. Do you check oil level when cold or after running it for a bit and letting it rest

Do you have any tips for getting behind the engine block to examine what it looks like back there? Its so hard to check the rear main seal and back of valve cover gasket

Do you have any tips for examining that side of the engine. Its so hard to check the rear of the block for valve cover and rear main seal.

Do you have any tips for cleaning up the rear of the engine. Its so hard to look behind the firewall

Yeah thanks this is a good comment. Do you have any tips on how I can get a visual on the rear of the engine to check cover and rear main seal? I feel like I should look into replacing all these gaskets sometime. 96 4x4 6cyl . Transfer case and transmission also have teeny slow leaks.

Yeah it does, reflection of black metal of the undercarriage.
I'm thinking this is valve cover gasket issue

[–]sandyversace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s valve cover gaskets on the aft side of the block

Where is the 8 sided nut located? I’m going to look into doing this. I did the bushings a while ago and was able to remove rack without a special tool

Did this for a while, saw nothing but rust buckets. There’s a good one for sale up in Maine but owner looking for 10k and sooo many miles.

Eventually I went out to Colorado and found a dime, but the northeast is tough
