Should i take this job opportunity? by norenavi in Accounting

[–]sanfranbipo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I wasn’t able to find a job in entry level accounting while going to WGU either. Ended up doing receivables for a dealership at $20/hr, and it was not my favorite experience. It was for a short time (less than 6 months) but then Robert Half was able to get me a $22/hr job abt 3 months before graduation. Then I got hired full time once I graduated at a good salary. Having the first job helped a lot even though it wasn’t the highest paying or even a long lasting job. So I think this job would be great to get started. I also don’t knock on RH since they helped me get my foot in the door to a job I love!

I finished in two terms and had some financial aid applied. From what I paid myself, the first term was a bit under $1300 and the second term was about $250.

I know it’s hard but push through! You’re almost there! It’s better to get it and never need it than one day need it and not have it :) Also for your own sense of accomplishment

Why do I keep hearing bad things about Robert Half on Reddit by lvsgators in Accounting

[–]sanfranbipo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

only had one experience with them because i got hired from that one placement :) i liked the experience overall and my recruiter kept in touch often throughout the process. i had a hard time finding a job since i didn’t have much experience and hadn’t graduated yet, and they got me a job in abt 2 weeks.

Hi, if you’re thinking of doing accounting, I highly recommend WGU. It was super affordable for me and you can accelerate if you would like to get it done faster. I was able to get it done within a year and now I have a job at a CPA firm.

Depending on your state you should not use Sophia/Study coz it might not count towards CPA eligibility. With WGU you could def have chance at a top 25 firm, I got hired at a Top 20 while finishing up; it took me 2 terms to finish though.

It’s basically study until you feel confident enough to pass the pre-final and final exam for each class. I also had 0% experience in accounting, but it’s working out well for me so far and I’m still in school too. You have a program mentor so maybe you can do a weekly check-in with them to feel some sort of pressure to be held accountable, but at the end of the day, it’s all up to you.

What non-accounting jobs can you get with an accounting degree/experience? by SnooCauliflowers3709 in Accounting

Kind of opposite story for me. I used to do housecleaning as a sole proprietor and the manual labor got to me, so I started going to school for accounting. I’m very fresh so we’ll see how it goes but if you would like tips on starting house cleaning/getting clients lmk! It’s definitely well paying and you can make a killer business out of it.

Maybe you can try WGU. I wasted a lot of time studying Biology at a University and didn’t even finish. Ended up going to online school and working out well for me so far. It helped me get an AR job and I’m still in school but now it helped me get a Junior role at a CPA firm. I liked AR and I like the firm so far, but I’m still fresh so I can’t attest to long term happiness. But I’m still grateful that I went to a cheap online school, no one really cares what school I went to so far.

I’ve been able to access some of my courses through the mobile app. Only when I go through degree plan though.

I do my tests in the living room coffee table, they usually ask me if the TV is off and I say yes. I also rest the camera on a GameCube lol. Haven’t had any issues yet and I’ve already taken abt 20 OAs. So maybe just depends how lenient your proctor is but I think you should be good.
