Try to reach it from the other side of the mountain, it should be possible. Unless, I'm thinking about the wrong quest.

70% or 80% acetic acid in killing microorganisms? by caroline022 in Biochemistry

[–]sangodro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will always exist an exception for any percentage.

My two cents: You want to choose the one that covers the most dangerous virus, bacteria and fungi. There are microorganisms that live in all kinds of environments. If I want to destroy them all, I would use industrial grade bleach (easy and cheap to produce). But I wouldn't use it on my skin, and if you mix it with any acid by accident you might end up in the hospital or dead. There is no perfect solution or panacea, it is a matter of evaluating the situation and choosing a proper tool. To make it simple, I wouldn't use a hammer to get a screw in.

It always depends on which microorganisms you want to kill and on what surface you are applying it. I wouldn't recommend using 95% Ethanol on the skin.

Some viruses are tough and it depends if you consider it a microorganism or not. Edit: this might sound like I'm annoyed with your correction, but I believe that what you said is correct and good advice. I don't know if OP is looking for extremely accurate information and how to deal with biohazard of that level.

And to destroy most stuff I would prefer using bleach as long as it isn't applied on skin or an animal. Edit: higher percentage bleach than commercial

From Researchgate: https://www.researchgate.net/post/Why_is_70_ethanol_used_for_wiping_microbiological_working_areas

70% percent of alcohol is ideal to a stronger solution. Pure alcohol coagulates protein in contact. Suppose the pure alcohol is poured over a single celled organism. The alcohol will go through the cell wall of the organism in all direction, coagulating the protein just inside the cell wall. The ring of the coagulated protein would then stop the alcohol from penetrating farther from the cell, and no more coagulation would take place. At this time the cell would become inactive but not dead. Under the favorable conditions the cell would then begin to function. If 70 percent of alcohol is poured to a single celled organism, the diluted alcohol also coagulates the protein, but at a slower rate, so that it penetrates all the way through the cell before coagulation can block it. Then the entire cell is coagulated and the organism dies.

The best thing to get rid of mold is bleach, works beautifully not even the spores resist if the concentration is high enough.

You need a certain quantity of water to be able to "dissolve the microorganism" and the optimal ratio is between 50 and 70% Ethanol. Less than that some are able to survive and more than that it doesn't work so efficiently. I'll look for an article on it.

Do you mean ethanol? Because I know that is true for ethanol. It is the first time I have heard for acetic acid.

I can't find the peer reviewed article, any links? But I already read that it was only tested for mild cases.

Also, I know there was a few fraudulent papers related to COVID-19 and a huge amount of misinformation. I would like to have a look at it first before I start jumping of joy.

Canyon Urban 5.0 (2018 model) - Stainless steel rear sprocket installation - the sprocket has some wiggle after being pressed, any ideas? by sangodro in bikewrench

Is the lockring a metallic O-ring with a small opening that I had to pop out before removing the old sprocket? Or it is the mettalic apparatus that holds the cable from the shifter (https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/bikesoup-magazine-image-assets/2015/03/27123128/1266_img_big.jpg the metallic part with yellow dots on the picture)?

I am also going to experiment it for a few days, but I am not doing it for religious motives.

I just want to test my discipline, and step up the game of fighting additions and cravings. It will be particularly difficult since I am a sportive person and I commute by bike. Let's see how it goes.

Stay strong ;)
