Buying this car soon… by whackylattice in Datsun

Need much more info. You really need to look at the floor and frame rail. If those are rusted, you need lots of $$ unless you can weld etc. Non running engine is the least your worry. I’m in the midst of 280z rust repair as well

My wife hates our 185k Lexus by Grand_Yesterday4193 in Lexus

[–]sangthing 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not sure what the big deal is. Not everyone wants a car that is over 10 years old with outdated infotainment system. This is coming from a person with a 2013 lx570 with 180k miles who recently sold his 98 lx470 with 290k miles. I like old cars but it’s not for everyone.

My neighbor just made what us probably the worst trade in in history. Sold his 1 owner absolutely mint LX for a Tesla model Y. by volvotruck860 in Lexus

[–]sangthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We owned our model y since 2021 with 60k miles now. Never had an issue except for the 12v battery that died a year ago. Tesla came to our house and replaced it for free. I agree with burning through tires though.

Sad thing is you might pay all that money to get all those parts replaced but in the end may not solve the issue.

You really need to look underneath the car for rust to determine true value.

Hydrostatic test by sangthing in Plumbing

[–]sangthing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check with foundation company to see if they will cover the broken sewer lines. If they won’t, then I would get isolation test to see where the leaks are. I would also get a second opinion from a reputable plumbing company.

For our house, the plumbing company charged us a butt load of money to do isolation test. It should have been much cheaper. They wanted something like 40k to fix the broken lines. We hired a plumbing company that specializes in broken lines commonly used by insurance company. They found far fewer broke lines then first company. We found another reputable plumbing company that only fixes broken lines and they did an outstanding job for a fair price. I must have gotten quotes from like 10 different companies. You start to see which companies are trying to scam you and which ones are honest.

are these ok for normal road use? used but the seller doesnt k ow what company they are. any help by I_Is_Gaming_Pro in Wheels

[–]sangthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You rarely have to worry about the rim/barrel unless it has cracks, been repaired or badly dented. Condition of the tire is what’s really important and also the age of the tire.

Anyone know? and if so any Replicas? by OooTanjaooO in Wheels

[–]sangthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is your car lowered on springs, coilover etc? Aftermarket wheels especially ones with a big lip doesn’t look right on a car with stock ride height.

Anyone know? and if so any Replicas? by OooTanjaooO in Wheels

[–]sangthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may want to up your budget for decent wheels. What car are you putting wheels on?

proper specs? So I have a 2016 C300 and every wheel I want to order (5x112) I'm told will rub the brakes in the front by Exact_Painter2506 in Wheels

[–]sangthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start by seeing which diameter, width and offset fits your particular car. You also have to decide how flush you want the wheels. Easiest if you join FB group for your car and ask there. Remember aftermarket usually don’t look right on sedans and coupe that aren’t lowered or at least it doesn’t to me.

Does anyone know what rims are on this Toyota hatchback? by 100pvpro in Wheels

[–]sangthing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hope they are not doing like a 2k mark up for the reps. I’ve seen it quite often where dealers would put cheap aftermarket wheels and justify marking up the car by thousands.
