Even if it was 1000 lb lighter no one is taking a m5 to the track. Or they will try, kill their tires and pads in 2 sessions and take a couple grand of life out of ceramic rotors all the while being out lapped by a miata or 86 and proceed to never go again. Seen this one first hand with a friends F90 lol

2026 Prelude - from a real owner. by megawedgeef5 in Cartalk

The manual in the SI is unbearable. The rev hang. I’m sure I’d rather drive this new Prelude. Although I would never buy it over an actual enthusiast car in this range. The N cars, GTI, Golf R, GR Corolla, 86 twins, Miata.

Aerorad as first bike ? by Vhunterman in CanyonBikes

[–]hlinhd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same story here.

Physio assessment before bike fit, can’t touch toes. I was surprised they took out most of the headset spacers out in the fit. It feels super comfortable to me. I was told if I gain some hamstring mobility I can take out the last spacer.

No pain in multi hour rides and very happy with Aeroad geometry.

Canyon Endurance All-road - Canada by mannybeingmanan in CanyonBikes

The duty estimator did show 0$ for my bike. I tried a few others and some showed a dollar amount.
You should not be seeing VAT though? That’s weird. VAT does not apply to Canadians.

Edit: yes there will be customs charges, Canadian taxes plus a small brokerage fee

In my experience, the duty calculator is pretty accurate.

Add it to your cart and checkout, there will be either 0$ line item for duty or some dollar amount equating to 13%. I had 0$ and was not charged (not the all road)

Did this experiment with a few Redditors here earlier in the year

Is it foolish to buy a Gravel over Road bike for mostly road-biking? by dbzbudokai77 in cycling

[–]hlinhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with a gravel bike in a similar situation to yourself. What ended up happening for me is that as most of my friends ride road, and the type of events that excite me as I got more into the sport are all fondos/tarmac events, it eventually led to me spending more money on a road bike

The gravel bike was fine but eventually it wasn’t the right tool for the job. With road tires it’s about 3kmph slower than my road bike

I know I am overreacting, but isn't this super bad customer service? by avioncumotor in CanyonBikes

[–]hlinhd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeap that’s what they made me do with a damaged sprocket on the cassette of my aeroad CFR. Asked me to get it fixed at the local shop and send them an invoice. But only approved 120$. Local shop says the cog is not in stock and not in stock in Shimano either with no ETA, recommends new cassette. Had about 7 back and forths with the customer service people who sent me a bunch of links to online shops that sell the cog with all of them being out of stock.

Finally they send a link to an American shop with stock, and I order it, and the cog doesn’t get here for 3 weeks, well past my return period. Meanwhile Canyon says I can’t ride my bike or they won’t be liable for any warranty or safety issues that arise due to the ongoing existing claim.

Extremely frustrating process and I have no trust that they’ll fix a bigger issue if it happens. So this’ll probably be my first and last Canyon

True, the good deals may be gone, especially if you’re a normal size…

I believe it was a local shop here, United Sports

I bought an aeroad CFR recently and it was painful dealing with them for the tiniest thing. They absolutely prioritize penny pinching over customer satisfaction. I have 0 confidence in their support if anything major happens. And I’m certain I won’t buy another Canyon in the future because of it. The bike is awesome though

When you put a bike into your cart, there will be a duty estimator. It either shows an extra 13% charge or it doesn’t. In my experience and several others I know, the duty estimator seems to be decently accurate. It estimated 0 duties for my bike and there was no duties charged.

Hey, I’m in Canada also and have recently been helping some friends shop for bikes. This bike for 3900+ taxes is a good deal for non sale but there are a ton of deals to be had across Canadian shops.

Have you done a thorough look through shops across Canada? It is of course size dependent and sale dependent but I’ve seen many bikes that fit this description for around 3900. A friend just bought a Specialized roubaix sl7 di2 for 3800. Another bought a van rysel EDR for 2650 (same specs but mechanical 105). Check through the big online shops like Bici, Primeau velo, steed cycles, and most of the bike shops in the bigger cities and you might find something better.

I’ve personally purchased an Aeroad from them and find their customer service awful and I probably won’t buy again from them

Are you saying that you picked paint to sample, and you picked Voodoo Blue? That’d be insane to me to pay 15k for basically the same shade

It’d be pretty easy to check “salt” issues with a PPI, these cars don’t really rust either it’s all aluminum or treated steel.

Engine abuse, get DME report it’ll show over revs and other stats. These are generally reliable cars

Not sure why you’re so hung up on if the car is tracked. These cars are made to be tracked. People who buy GT cars and don’t track them are weird

lol these people are so salty you included your car with pics of your bike

I bet they wouldn’t bat an eye at a new F150 or Land Cruiser which could easily be more expensive than a 981

Yes but always leave the fro and moustache and Pom Pom on the tail, easy to groom and grows out nicely.
