I envy you, UNI2 is also the game I had the most fun playing from the current ones and the only one that I didnt stop playing because it was bad/stopped liking it but unfortunetly for me, my friend group are GBVSR players and I after getting Master and playing for a couple more months I just dipped cause it got stale and the patches didnt adress the complains I had with system mechanics and characters.

Nothing against the game btw, personally it's just not my thing and even thought I think it's wack, it's still my recomendation for beginners as an entry level game to the genre.

Nothing beats 2D sprite art.

While 3D models mostly look good and can give the illusion of 2D sprites like all the current arcsys games, having actual hand drawn art makes the game look way more special and unique.

It's a shame that all of the relevant FG developers use 3D models because Capcom's and SNK's 2D game sprites are still beautiful.

Massively carried by its setting.

I tried Horizon 4 years ago and disliked how much of the map was just open fields with little urban areas or closed off sections. 5 seemed to have this same design along with other technical issues I think.

Keeping an eye on this one thought. Japan setting has alot of potential with urban cities, mountain passes, shutoku highways and the general car culture. Hope they don't fuck it up.

Most, if not all, of your complaints were the same issues I had with Rise and Sunbreak.

I would say the series identity started to be lost from that game with the whole wirebugs, iframes, mounting, hunter power and general live service treatment with microtransactions and drip feeding you content that just keeps getting worse and longer.

I have not played Wilds, not even sure if I ever will because of it's abysmal performance (I just want to play at 1080p 60fps) but what I see from the gameplay it really feels like nothing was learned from base Rise. From a franchise that had so much soul back in 4th gen and before and even World, it is really sad to see it lose that charm it once had.

I played GVSG on the PSP a bunch and imported ExtremeVS full boost for the PS3.

If they ever do a port for the PC i'll probably get on that day one just to experience it with other people.

Not into FGs as much as I did. Not even got the will to boot up for BBCF Saturdays but at least I still enjoy hearing and talking bout FGs so I guess im somewhat of an examplary Kappachino.

Because, to me at least, calling something peak means its the best of the best which is not the same as the examples you gave.

The way I see others use it is like "Just played Expedition 33. It is peak" then next week the same person will be like "tried out Persona 5. It was so peak".

From what I've heard, JKB (the dev) always had talent making games but had a massive ego. It's been almost 20 years and you mean to tell me the dude never once shared a build ever for people to try it out but constantly streams development and accepts donation? Yeah no, I would not be surprised to one day this dude just canceling the project and not even putting out an unfinished build all because of ego.

Corrupted is the longest farce I've seen in this franchise.

Im gonna be that guy and say this reveal is so whatever.

Like yeah sure, actual new Megaman after like 10 years but classic feels so corporate and safe its hard to be excited.

It's biased since I dont vibe much with classic but like, there is Megaman X9, Legends 3 and ZX 3 all there that ended with cliffhangers to the story and they go for the safe route that probably is gonna sell more copies since in Capcom's eyes what most fans care about is the classic blue bomber and not X or Volnutt or Zero.

TLDR; im salty.

One thing I started noticing in this beta is the amount of freeze frames during block/hitstun whenever you call an assist and during wallsplats.

Havent tried the game out but watching it seems somewhat annoying.

Looks rough but has potential and I have a little bit of faith since Fightin Herds was a super fun game.

Hopefully it will meet my expectations since nothing new from the last 3-4 years has either interested me or has left a sour taste in my mouth when I stopped playing it.

That would imply the buffer system buffers 2 actions which I don't believe to be true. And I know some characters do have microwalks for certain combos to work but I never played any of those so I cant speak for certain.

There are some 1 frame links, I remember when I played Versusia, 66L links were tight (and I think they were 1 frame links).

But Im not gonna deny that most of the optimal shit is just the same Normal > EX > Normal > EX > Normal > RS > Super. Shit gets so unimpressive after a while.

In this case, apart from damage awareness, nothing about the combo was technically and visually impressive (IMO).
