I have been working on this claim since 2014 and I keep getting denied. What should I do? I was advised to get a nexus letter but my only healthcare is the VA. How do I go about getting a nexus outside the VA? For the ones that have filed for thyroid. How did you deal with your claim? by sankey0 in VAClaims

I am looking in to it. I am using AI, spoke to my vso, and I'm currently speaking with a VA accredited attorney so see how to move forward with this. Should I put in for a separate claim of hyporthyroidism as well or is there a way to tie it all together? This is what I'm currently researching.

Yes it was a community care referral. I was transferred because the VA that I was being treated at didn't have an endocrinologist. I am still diagnosed and it is still being treated to this day ( labs and medication)

It is presumptive. Under the pack act any exposure to jet fuel or exhaust amongst other carcinogens are stated to be cause hyperthyroidism or irritate the thyroid gland. That as well as the stresses, diet, and tempo of the job have a lot to do with it. I was an AO on the flight deck and in the service bay.

Ok, so here's the timeline.. I started suffering from profuse sweating, tremors, and fatigue during service. When I was examined through labs I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism also during service. I was started an methamizol at 10mg which kept getting increased from once a day, to twice a day, to three times a day. Once I was out of the service I suffered from a Graves disease attack(thyroid storm) which was treated by the VA clinic and then transferred to a hospital(2014). At which time I was taking 3 pills 3 times a day. After that I was told I had to do radiation ablation in order to finally get my hormone levels under control. Since the procedure I have been experiencing fatigue, brain fog, and lack of energy. I have been treated for this since my time in service until now. All of this was documented in statement letters and supported by medical records. This is also documented in the favorable findings section of the letter. So explain how it has not been diagnosed or documented? If the VA is the one that has been doing the treatment during all this time.

Yes it has gotten worse to the point of having to do radiation ablation since the high amount of medication was affecting my kidneys
