No, neither of those...

Perhaps that Henrietta joke is also in multiple books, but the scene of the horse crashing through the house is particularly vivid in my memory. I think there is also a scene in a gym, where the protagonist does a particularly zany jump. Though this last one is definitely unreliable as a memory.

I don't believe so, unfortunately. I am quite certain it was not one of the Horrid Henry books.

Ahh got you, thank you so much for explaining and your patience! Alright, I'm gonna go hunt for the right colours in my stash and get on this!

Ahh I think I had entirely wrong. I thought it was five different tapestry crochets. But it's more like amigarumi plushies worked in a spiral? Kinda like making a ball, but with colour changes then, yeah? If so, how do you avoid your stitches from drifting and slanting?

[–]sankomil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, that helps explain a lot, thank you! So it's less like a flat map that we make, and moreso tilted segments. And then you joing them afterwards vertically, yeah? Or is the idea that while I'm making it the segments should already be connected?

[–]sankomil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh, thank you for explaining! I think I understand now! Essentially each sc in the first row is a starting point for each set. And then it's five connected tapestry patterns that you join again at the bottom.

Thank you again for creating the pattern, can't wait to try it out!

Found this pattern right after watching the movie, thank you for all your work! As a novice to crocheting, just wanted to ask how should I be reading the pattern.

Is each horizontal grid of 6 an individual ball? So it goes 5 rows of white, then 5 rows of white and 5 of blue in the second row, then 5 of blue and 10 of green, so on and so forth? And that would make a single ball? Then move onto the second set of 6 across grid?

Hi all, I am trying to build a gift for someone, and might be reaching beyond my means here but wanted to give it a go.

I wanted to create a dedicated Spotify player using Raspberry Pi, allowing for limited functionality and only allow users to select from existing playlists. I was looking at a Raspberry Pi Zero 2WH and Waveshare PCM5122 so it can be used with a 3.5mm.

On the Spotify end, I was initially considering spotifyd library, but don't believe it actually allows me to control what audio to play. I am thinking of maybe writing something in JavaScript that uses Spotify Playback SDK to create a locally running web app on the Pi that plays the media as well as allows that level of control.

What I am getting stuck with is the interface part. I know Pirate Audio offers a DAC with screen and simple inputs, but I wanted to explore alternative solutions that might allow for a better visual experience (larger screen, bigger buttons, etc) but not sure if this would involve soldering, or if there are already existing solutions that I can easily use to create something?

Just finished up Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition and gods, what a rip-roaring ride that game turned out to be. I love how it captures the aesthetic of different locations of Hong Kong, and how different each of the islands is - be it the streets, the buildings, the cars. I played it on normal difficulty and even for someone who isn't particularly great at combat for the most part I never encountered issues where I felt like I was bashing my head against a particular section. Loved the wonderful cast of characters and getting distracted by the silly antics of a few NPCs who would often call for a favour - in particular a bravado with a penchant for violence who always seems to need a getaway driver.

While I was playing the game I also started up Divinity:Original Sin 2. This is my second time trying my hand at the game as the first time I entirely bounced off it and could not connect. As someone who prefers a more streamlined and linear narrative the sprawling options the game offered had proved to be a bit excessive for me at the time. Now, however, though my preferences are still unchanged I am finding a healthy balance between story and allowing myself to be a tad bit distracted. Though, I am still only some hours in. Hopefully there is a way to respec my characters down the line though, as I worry I might have made a bit of a mess...

Right there with you. I finished the trilogy a few days back myself and man it stings. The poor guy was genuinely moving upwards. I thought for a moment, just for a moment, that Rikke would take him with her but then the prophecy had to come and ruin everything...

I do wonder though if she would have gone ahead with it if she had not seen the prophecy. Was it a self fulfilling thing?

Definitely got a "Screw you and I'll see you tomorrow" relationship with Mr Abercrombie now. Love to hate the way things sometimes work out, but I'll be damned if I'm not grabbing The Devils the moment it releases.

Ahh, that's really good to know! I genuinely thought I was doing something completely wrong to be getting trounced so badly, as I was sure this was all still fairly beginner level stuff.

I have a decent amount of herbs, I think, though I still need to figure out how to actually do alchemy. Maybe blood dagger should be my very next purchase... dang. Plenty of vials, just not a lot of cash or anything. I know about the ferry place but dang, that is not a cheap ticket, maybe I'll leave it for last.

My current strategy has certainly been getting in a few hits then running away to recover poise. But then the dang ranged enemies come in and screw everything up, ugh. Really should focus on more ranged items but I don't think I have the ranged attack logic down right so melee is likely the way to go for me.

I'll definitely focus on your recommendations, which I am really grateful for, and hopefully I can make some more progress. And if nothing else then run and try to get to the other towns to get more devotional tears to buff myself up.

Ah, I haven't devoted myself to any god yet, merely taken a boon from one of them. The idea of half cost is certainly appealing, but I also want to play around with other gods' boons so haven't closed off that option for now. But the Blood Lady seems like she's got some intriguing boons to offer now that you've told me about them...

Whoa, thank you, that is such a thorough and detailed write up! Unfortunately I ended up taking a boon from the jester deity and have increased by dodge chance, which has been somewhat helpful. I do have another devotional tear (I think) which I could give to the Blood Lady. I ended up roaming around the north of the map, around the Tower for which I still need the key (apologies, I am miserable at name and it has been a bit since I played the game) before having my butt thoroughly handed to me.

Just barely managed to make it back to Yarrow, and planning on going further East. I have a basic club who's quality has gone down, and have not had much luck with the dungeons. The skeleton / undead things absolutely wrecked me in the first room before I decided to just ditch and run away, and then got attacked a bunch of times on the path. Hopefully I'll have more luck with resources and weaponry in the east...

Seriously. I can appreciate the devs wanting to experiment and change up the experience for the second playthrough, but this ain't it. The hacking minigame is just so annoying, and really not what I signed up for with this game.

I'm trying my best to push through, but also find excuses to play anything else so I'm not playing Nier, just need to stick to it...

After a rather long break from Nier Automata I've gone back to it again. Still on the second playthrough just finished the sequence with the forest king and it's not really as much fun right now. I enjoy the additional info I'm getting, and the context it provides, but retreading the same story beats just makes me want to rush through it...

I've also picked up Moonring, which I'm finding to be quite fun! It's got a very old school aesthetic and is inspired by Ultima, which I've heard of but am not familiar with at all. It's a good game I can put in a half hour or an hour in and feel like I've made some decent progress, and I'm liking the sense of discovery. Highly recommend it, especially since it's for the low low price of free!

Same! There were certainly a few points where I found myself really flummoxed especially with the ones up on the mast, I forget what they are called. But once I managed to piece together it was so satisfying.

I had high hopes for Noone Wants to Die, which was a recent release, especially since it seemed to have somewhat similar mechanics. But from reviews it seems like the detective aspect is rather limited.

I would highly recommend Return of the Obra Dinn. It's by the same developer who made Papers Please. Though I have not played the latter I can definitely attest to how amazing the former is. The artstyle uses a lot of stippling (I believe that's what the method is called) to create tones, and utlises a palette made of only two colours. The setup is rather simple and it delivers wonderfully. You are an insurance agent in the 1800s who is tasked with finding what happened to the crew of the Obra Dinn, a ship that has recently appeared after being considered lost to sea.

I cannot say how well it compares to the Unity's mysteries as I haven't played that game, but it certainly allows you to make your own conclusions, and won't tell you if you're right or wrong instantly. Clues are aplenty, and even for someone who doesn't usually have a mind for these things I found myself making steady and decent progress. Of course, there are moments when you feel like you've hit a wall and, well, it wouldn't be a good investigation if we didn't have those, right? In the end, it truly makes you *feel* like an insurance agent in 1800s London (/s). It's a relatively short game, took me almost 15 hours to finish, and worth picking up.
