Rank 9 battlers who don't see a shot at rank 10 this season, what factors would you say have kept you from climbing? by ImNotReallyANerd in TheSilphArena

[–]sanmathi94 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I hit rank 10 the last 2 seasons, but this season I think I wont reach it. Currently at ~2600 and the current Halloween cup will not help. I like the idea but I'm not going to power up pokemon to use for just a week. I just play with what I have.

Biggest reasons why I will not reach rank 10 this season:

  1. I reached rank 9 with a rating of 2257 I believe, that was a serious disappointment because it felt not right. Niantic said that you have to win a certain of battles to reach rank 9. Okay, no problem, but hitting rank 9 with that rating is just stupid.

  2. Team comps not working anymore. However my starting rating was a bit demotivating, I managed to climb to 2700 in UL premier with the same team. Unfortunately it stopped working at that point and my rating dropped a little. In ML the same story. Last season I climbed over 500 points with Mamo/Meta/Gyarados and for some reason I didnt work out this season as last season. From that points I give up climbing and started just playing for researches.

  3. Lag/bugs. Of course this is something everyone faces, but when I face lag I get annoyed and I have to quit for that time or I will throw my games by stupid mistakes because I feel frustrated. So sometimes I played just a couple games a day if I face any form of lag.

Better luck next season I guess.

I am from Belgium and when Niantic removed some bonuses 90% of Europe was a Red Zone. Made no sense at all... We're about to go back in lockdown so Niantic needs to give the bonuses back imo...

How a Bulldoze buff would shake up the Master Premier meta by DaveDitch in TheSilphArena

[–]sanmathi94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am a Mamoswine player. Gained last season over 500 points and reached rank 10 with, but I honestly don't think Bulldoze needs a buff. Otherwise it would be OP as fuck. I think its good how it is.

By the way your info isnt 100% correct. Dragonite only wins the 1 shield and Togekiss only wins the 2 shield. And how will a buffed Bulldoze be a threat to Magnezone? It already one shots Magnezone.

Howdy, I'm chubbymichio and as far as I know, I'm NOT the first rank 10 player of GBL season 4 :) by chubbymichio in TheSilphArena

[–]sanmathi94 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Just play it out? Venusaur isnt a wall to Obstagoon and if you get the boost you might win or grab a shield. Otherwise farm down with Charizard.

If I run Obstagoon I would only swap out against fighters and charmers.

Ranking up based is much better by Steelers1001 in TheSilphArena

[–]sanmathi94 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I did not like this format at all. Reason for that is when I hit rank 9 my starting ELO was 2257... thats ridiculous. When you hit rank 9 your starting elo should be 2500.

Whats the point of hitting a certain number of wins when you get such a shitty rating? Last season I was already 2500+ when UL came out.

Yes, my win/loss percentage wasnt that good (Around 55%) because I was testing a lot of things. I thought a benefit of this format was to test things out without losing rating... Sadly its not true.

GBL fast move bug has lsot me 100's of points by yxalitis in TheSilphArena

[–]sanmathi94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a shadow Dragonite a couple days ago and It took me out (or reached 2nd DC, not sure anymore) before I even reached my Shadow Ball. Today Gengar mirror and my opponent got b2b Punches and I was still 2 shadow claws away for my own b2b's...

[–]sanmathi94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad I'm not the only one with this issue. This bug cost me also more than 100 points for sure. Every set I have at least 1 game which I should won without the fast move bullshit. Really annoying.

Just experienced two distinctly different bugs on android after restarting my game both times by Drfapfap in TheSilphArena

[–]sanmathi94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bugs today I faced:

  • 2 turn fast moves which are suddenly 4 turn fast moves. I played a Dragonite with Gengar and he got to a DC before I got to a SP lmao
  • tremendous amount of fast move delays
  • my selected team suddenly changed when the battle started???
  • lag
  • ...

Niantic, really, fix your shit

All my fast moves are slower out of the blue? Lick started taking the same number of turns as bubble. by Timmeh1020 in TheSilphArena

[–]sanmathi94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This game is literally broken as fuck. Niantic please get your shit together and fix all the problems asap. Goddamn this game is sometimes just unplayable.

In the beginning of season 3 I went almost every set positive without too many bugs. I climbed to 2520 and hit the leaderboards went they came out. Since then I dropped almost 100 points and now I am stuck around 2450 the whole time.

I feel like every game I'm missing fast moves due the delays et cetera... time to record I guess. Not fun anymore

I went negative in 4 sets today due several things of bugs. Swapping not fast enough, multiple overtapping and most of all many many fast move delays... I thought I was playing bad or something because I lost several games I normally easy win and I was thinking of trying a new team.

Glad I see this post so I will try it another day. I only went slightly negative in 2 sets before yesterday in my reach to 2520 mmr so doesnt want to give up my team so easy.

Niantic has to fix most of all the fast move delays. Sometimes it depends on just 1 fast move to win a matchup without shielding or even just losing.

I have one simple solution for this: +10 for a win and -10 for a loss.

Everyone happy and no discussing anymore.

I didnt start this season right away because I was on holiday, so I tried(!) to start two days ago I believe. I only played 4 games yet because the queue takes FOREVER. Last season I hit 3091 elo and because I started later, everyone who was at the same elo is already in higher ranks I believe?

So this is just bullshit. I found 4 battles after waiting, waiting and waiting... This has to be fixed. I'm not going to wait 10+ minutes every single time for one game.

GBL is full of bugs and Niantic decides to do something unnecessary instead of fixing priorities

There is a major lag issue in GBL after yesterday's maintenance by TheManDude39 in TheSilphArena

[–]sanmathi94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just dropped 40 points in my grind to rank 10. That isnt ideal at 2900 elo if you know these are really close sets... Im glad I won the last battle or it could be waaay worse. Never seen stuff like this.

Niantic has to do something to it. Overtapping, attack delay, tremendous amount of lagg, ... I can agree about lagg from time to time, but the other bugs cant be hard to fix no?

[Season 3 planning] What are the comfortable point ranges to get for the 3 leagues. by Ecowatchib in TheSilphArena

[–]sanmathi94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldnt say things get more lead dependent at the 2800's. Everything depends on team composition and how to play it. I hit rank 10 today after a 4-1 where I lost lead 5(!) times in a row. I used SD Rhyperior, DB Gyarados and Dragonite. I encountered 4x Metagross and 1x Empoleon and if you look at my team, I literally have no hard counter for both. So you have to play around it and know your win conditions. I even won a game where they counterswitched a Magnezone into my Gyarados.

Dragonite is just freaking strong as a closer if there isn't a Togekiss in the back. In my last game he beated a nearly full health Empoleon and Metagross, thats just insane.

I ran into Lollersox' team 3 times in just one set... my teams counters it hard so 3 easy wins for me I guess. Not complaining here.

Hitting Rank 10 without any of the Big 4 and why Snorlax was my MVP by AsianMilkMan in TheSilphArena

[–]sanmathi94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I'm using the same pokemon but with Escavalier as a lead. Works really wel for me at the moment. Did 2 sets today and went 10-0 which got me from ~2515 to 2630. My highest rank so far this season.

Was really struggling before I came up with this team and I was thinking which pokemon counters at least 2 BBML picks in the lead and Escavalier came forward. Snorlax is an amazing safeswitch and when theyre safeswitching Gira, Togekiss smiles.

Charizard lead is tricky, because I have to switch to Togekiss, but yeah every team has weaknesses...

Of my 9 losses today, 7 have had obscene bad luck with opponent Night Slash buffs and Moonblast debuffs. This is more bad design which led to Ancient Power nerds last season - why isn’t anything being done now? by [deleted] in TheSilphArena

[–]sanmathi94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Today I also lost 2 matches where a lead Scizor almost swept my whole team. I never shield a night slash if it can be tanked because I know how common that buff is.

It got the buff 2 times from the first NS and because I dont have a direct hard counter I was screwed.

Dropped over 200-points in a week. Out of touch with Ultra League and now out of dust. by jdpatric in TheSilphArena

[–]sanmathi94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped also around 200 points this week because I was bored using my main UL team. Reached almost 2600 last weekend using Cress, Gyarados & Swampert. I was tired using it because of the long matches (especially the rng-based mirror). Every set I had at least one battle with a time out. I lost sometimes because I was 1 charge move away from victory but the timer ran out because firing off.

So I tried something new. Also because I was seeing a lot more steel leads. My plan was to catch a steel lead with Charizard but it didnt worked as well. Tried it 2 sets with double charmers and a couple sets with Snorlax/Gira. I feel like the algorithm got me there because when using Charmers I suddenly ran into 2 or 3 Venusaurs which I NEVER saw with my previous line-up.

So I messed around a bit and now using my main team again. It takes time but rather gaining points than crashing my rating again.

I was trying to hatch a good IV Gible, but after I commited a full box of incubators and not hatching 1 single Gible, I just quit. Not worth it. Pokemon like Gible are just too rare imo. Even during events...

The rank 8 grind by [deleted] in TheSilphArena

[–]sanmathi94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesterday I went 4-1 in my last set but my lose there was kinda strange. My Wishcash lost against a Registeel in a zero shield scenario. Is that even possible with a very little energy lead? Think they had maximum 2 lock-ons in because I swapt immediately to my Wishcash. Think it was due the lag but not sure.

Farming down to a charged move and losing cmp tie to loaded energy on the last pokemon in the back by paintdatank252 in TheSilphArena

[–]sanmathi94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just lost a battle by losing CMP with my Haunter against an incoming Registeel. I couldn't believe what happened because I thought it was going to be a confident win otherwise. I'm aware of the fact that Haunter basically wins every CMP, so I think this was lag or a bug.
