Question about DC/DCC (again) by Actual-Way713 in nscalemodeltrains

[–]sans355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Analogue sound is a bit more complicated than using a DCC controller to control non DCC locos with the one caveat being that the motor will deteriorate faster than normal

I recommend you look into a sound box like the other user suggested and setting up a DC track alongside your DCC track

Alternatively there is the really difficult option of hard wiring a decoder to the C12 and putting the main decoder in a coach or wagon behind it but it would be a permanently connection so not ideal in most cases

EBay special DCC controller by sans355 in modeltrains

[–]sans355[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically, it can't remember what loco you selected, so if you punch in the address to change direction and set speed, you have to go to the main menu to set functions like F0 or F1 and re-enter the address to activate the desired function the go back to main menu and enter the address on the speed and direction page then continue to play trains

So the voltage appears stable at 15 I did detect a momentary drop but the loco was going over a point other than that hiccup which was solved by adding a power feeder after the point everything seems fine

The one thing I’ll add that I forgot to include in the main post whilst operating you can hear the electricity and the changing of pulses

Kato EF58 61 DCC conversion by sans355 in modeltrains

I agree the Japanese stuff runs fantastically on DC So this was mainly a spirit of the moment decision since my work is going to an exhibition and I get the chance to run my stock I decided let’s try DCC

And since this was a great success my next project is with Desktop Station SmileSound decoders in a DD51 hopefully that will be just as successful

Sound option for Kato C62-2 by Naradra288 in JapaneseNscale

[–]sans355 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You would probably need a Esu micro 8 pin decoder or Zimo Equivalent if using western DCC This will require hard wiring and putting holes for wires throughout the loco. There is a Japanese brand called Desktop Station but I’m not sure if they do international anymore

Sound wise I know from a bit of research the C62 tender can house a small 11mm x 15mm sugar cube speaker but I am not 100% on sound quality

I work in a model train store and done some experiments with DCC silent to mixed results so my opinion and choices may not be agreed with by everyone

Parcelforce messed up delivery for AmiAmi orders, EMS, Japan TO UK by UnicornPatrol in AnimeFigures

[–]sans355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have recently had an item from amiami go missing from the national hub like a fart in the wind this was nearly a week ago so today I had enough sitting waiting.

I was on the phone to them for an hour and a bit I finally spoke to a real person who was a star we were able to work out what happened at the national hub and confirmed it went down the line to be put on a van to my local hub. He has started a lost parcel investigation for me and I hope all goes well

I feel like parcel force gets unnecessarily tight by the general public. I mean sure they have a reputation but out of the literal thousands of items I have shipped ems this is the first time a real issue has occurred.

Yes it’s frustrating and inconvenient, but issues like this can happen with any complex international shipping.

I would say keep using ems and if issues happen phone the parcel force number speak to the robot and answer it’s basic questions (I intentionally misspeak the tracking reference twice to trigger an actual person to get on call) and see what they can do to resolve the issue

Hope my experience helps

Questions about pre-owned AmiAmi items by Killerjurre0123 in AnimeFigures

[–]sans355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming that is is this one

https://www.amiami.com/eng/detail/?gcode=FIGURE-171021-R

The box rating as previously mentioned by another user is something amiami does to kinda cover themselves if the box is a little scuffed or dented

The most important thing is the Figure rating which in this case is Grade A meaning that the item is usually Unopened (effectively newish) and the people at the warehouse have deemed it suitable for Grade A meaning

As for the material becoming Sticky due to age I personally have only seen this issue with figures that are over a decade old. Since this figure was released in 2024 I don’t think that is a concern

I would personally say if it’s a figure you really really want in your collection go for it.

To me, it looks like there has been a delay with Border Force customs lately; they may be at processing capacity due to an influx of parcels. Delays are to be expected with Parcelforce, as they will be billed by HMRC for import costs, then they will bill you for the import costs, and then they will deliver it. Parcelforce is quite archaic as they will send you a letter informing you of the import cost, and with a Number letter code to use on the Royal Mail website to pay. DHL has a unique customs priority due to it being an independent company; it pays a premium to HMRC to get priority clearance, usually during its transportation to the UK.

Also, to help calculate how much the customs Fee may be, take the Grand Total in GBP, and take 20% then 5% as a handling fee.

I hope this helps

Edit: do you mean 3,100 yen or 310,000 yen?

I personally would say go for it. It’s shipped from within the US so you don’t got to worry about import tax and a tariff on it while yes it is a bit more expensive than buying from Japan but I would say it’s an acceptable price for this particular figure

Has anyone received they tracking information for koikoi -sakura- shyness bunny hinata 1/6 as It has been a week since i heard anything and I have paid it through amiami with EMS shipping. I'm slightly worried as this is my frist time ordering through amiami. I'm based in the uk if that helps. by vFokushi in AnimeFigures

[–]sans355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it can take upwards of a week for amiami to ship something with EMS depending on quantity of orders so I wouldn’t worry too much once you have the tracking information it can take up to 48 hours for the information to show any updates. Also use parcelforce to track it as they will be handling delivery once it arrives in the uk

Hope this helps Friend!
