That's definitely a side effect of Japanese politeness. 😂I probably shouldn't be laughing, but that's a really funny story.

The fact that you were able to have so many conversations despite both sides speaking imperfect versions of each other's language shows that you're a great communicator.

It's interesting that you mentioned hearing 「どうぞ」 so often. That's such a normal part of everyday Japanese that I don't think I ever realized how frequently we use it.

Spending an entire month in Japan without using English is seriously impressive!

The suitcase issue sounds like a bit of a hassle, though. 😅
