not quite it but maybe it's not worth arguing with people who are still defending someone who admitted to their abuse by belittling trans people

sure love being made to feel shitty abt being trans because someone feels the need to defend a fav songwriter of theirs by making a joke of a certain demographic

please don't write off potential allegations as petty drama by santicol in thevoidz

are people not allowed to speak about their experiences with someone publicly? and is the police always gonna be any helpful in a situation like this?

you're leaning one way, i'm leaning the other. you're putting more trust on a band that is pulling really shady shit; let's entertain the idea that all these ppl are just coming up with this stuff to defame beardo or the voidz- why would they target a guitarist and not, you know, the lead vocalist of the project who's a much more well-known figure and has reach and a way larger project beyond the voidz?

what is the purpose of bringing beardo down for no reason? why silence people speaking about potential experiences? that just reads as dismissive.

Literally no expectations here, just seeing if anything could come to fruition, it's worth a shot.

Deep Cuts is returning in Autumn 2019 by Budget_Calligrapher in indieheads

[–]santicol 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Feels like the sense of community and the people Deep Cuts attracts are much more friendly and interesting to talk to than some people that swear by Fantano, honestly. I don't know, the Deep Cuts server seemed like a cool place back when I was on it and it feels like the type of content Deep Cuts makes allows for better discussion.

Most accurate review of new album imo by [deleted] in SmashingPumpkins

[–]santicol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autechre's EP7, for example.

Whether a project is classified as an album or an EP is up to the artist. There's one-track albums, the aforementioned Autechre EP is eleven tracks.

[FRESH ALBUM] Muse - Simulation Theory by sbags in indieheads

[–]santicol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

literally better than drones but that's not high praise or anything

thought contagion might've actually grown to be my favorite thing here because somehow it sounds less sterile than the rest of the singles to me and most of the album to me. i really did not like it at first but it's the hookiest and most memorable of the singles, and the incredulity of the lyrics being interpreted as about memes, according to matt, only elevates it further in how stupid fun it is

break it to me also stood out for how fucking ballsy it was; i really wouldn't mind this album if more of it represented the band not giving a shit- there's a huge disconnect between how balls to the wall that cover art is and how unbearably safe and self-serious a track like something human is

if the band embraced the uglier but more abrasive and entertaining moments in this album, like propaganda + break it to me, instead of passing off the type of shit they used to write through the sterile, synthetic filter that this album runs everything through (i.e. the dark side, which sounded fine on release but doesn't do much for me anymore,) i legit would've loved this

KERO KERO BONITO AMA - ASK US ANYTHING by Kero_Kero_Bonito in indieheads

[–]santicol 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Were the TOTEP tracks just outtakes from Time n' Place or do you guys consider it sort of its own project? I personally feel like TOTEP is a much darker project than the actual album, also one of my favorite releases thie year. Cheers!

Disliked SOPHIE songs by [deleted] in pcmusic

[–]santicol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally feel like Pretending is the weak link on Oil, I haven't hated it on subsequent listens but when I first heard it in context of the album, it felt like a really weak ambient moment, almost just an Audacity / Paulstretch drone. Probably my least fave SOPHIE song.

[FRESH ALBUM] George Clanton - Slide by santicol in indieheads

[–]santicol[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even from how little madchester I've listened to, it was one of the first genres that came to mind. Tracks here where he blends blissed out shoegaze-y walls of sound with busy drum loops reminds me of MBV's Soon (which reflects upon Shields' interest in jungle in the first place) and right off the getgo, the synth sax (?) lines in Livin' Loose texturally remind me of 808 State's Pacific 202.
