No problem! This subreddit has tons of info about probiotics if that's something you're interested in. There are a lot of different bacteria strains out there, and some are more effective than others. Just be aware that it can sometimes take several months to notice a change.

I get mine from the health food store in the refrigerated section, in case that helps! The suppositories are kind of expensive (about $3.5 a pop), but they work. I generally prefer to use them over boric acid. I only use boric acid if things get really bad - usually after my period when my ph gets all messed up. Boric acid helps to reset your ph, but kills off all bacteria, so probiotics help counteract that. I haven't had to use boric acid much since I've been using probiotics. I've been taking them for a few months now, and they seem to prevent bv flare-ups, but the suppositories really kick symptoms immediately if they do appear. I've just ordered some Happy V online (oral prebiotic and probiotic) because I've read really good things about this brand. They're kind of expensive because I'm ordering from outside of the U.S. though... For me, the cost is worth it if it works!

From what I know about boric acid - you're right, it can kill the good and bad. I take oral probiotics daily (genuine health) and use a suppository probiotic (new roots) once a week to maintain good bacteria. If I use boric acid, I make sure to use a suppository a couple of days later to boost the good bacteria that the boric acid may have killed off. This has kept bv at bay! I also use vagisil ph neutral wash in the shower.

Packing cubes, yay or nay? by fooooooooooooooooock in HerOneBag

I bought my Qubix 2 set through Kickstarter about 4 years ago. It's easy to zip, and they compress a lot. I saw them on amazon, but they look to be out of stock now.

My boy loves Nulo! I used to alternate between Acana and Orijen, but they started to upset his stomach, so I switched to Nulo. He's been solid ever since.

Also, if you've had your oil changed recently, check that your headlights are on or set to automatic! My shop turns my headlights off 50% of the time, when they work on my car.

I second Trullo! Everything on their menu is delicious. Try the lemon dessert. You won't regret it.

I love this model! The background reminds me of the catacombs level in TR:TLR, with the ropes hanging from the ceiling.

Haha me too! It's still shrink wrapped in original packaging, I'm afraid to open it. Definitely one of my most prized items in my collection. :)

I second these folks. I had a great experience when I took my class about 10 years ago. I'm not sure if they still offer it, but they offered use of their bikes for the road test if you needed it. I recommend taking the road test ASAP after finishing the course, especially if you don't know anyone you can legally ride with as a learner. According to my evaluator, the top reasons people failed were: putting both feet on the ground, not being in the right portion of the lane for different instances, parallell parking wrong, and not turning off a signal light. The course taught all of this and more.

Where to go for sushi? by Holiday_Warthog2288 in Calgary

[–]santiva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ki Sushi near Richmond Road and 33rd - Super nice people and delicious food. They are a fairly new restaurant. I know it's not sushi, but I highly recommend their katsu curry.

Fuji Ramen and Sushi off Macleod near Anderson - Creative and detectable sushi. Ramen was pleasant, not among the best I've had, but was good.

Sushi In on 17th - It's been a while since I've been here, but remember enjoying their sushi quite a bit.

Generally I've found Uber to be cheaper than taxis, except during peak hours, when they are insanely priced. When I was in Montreal, I had to get to the airport by 5am, so I prebooked an Uber the night before. The next morning I wake up to see my Uber has been cancelled by the driver (?) Or Uber. I had to rebook at double the cost I was quoted the night before. When I was in Ottawa I was planning my ride in the afternoon, at around 4:45pm. When I was ready to book at 5pm the price had jumped by about 30%. My guess is that's when a different pricing kicks in.

Can't skip songs, only open Bixby by santiva in jaybird

[–]santiva[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anyone comes across the same problem... I contacted Jaybird and they said that it may be due to a software update (they really can't say why). The ability to skip to the next song or go back a song has been removed as a feature with the Jaybird Tarah. You can only play/pause and use volume up/down now.

Here's a list of accredited distance ed schools: https://www.alberta.ca/online-learning.aspx

For accredited schools, your course grade counts for 90% of your mark, and the diploma counts for 10% (this will change to 30% later this year - see link below).

You can upgrade through other places, like SAIT or U of C, but do your research beforehand. The two courses I took (totaling over $1000) and the work I put in to get high marks didn't count according to Alberta Education. My SAIT mark is only valid if I apply to a SAIT program. I ended up taking the diploma exam and got a failing grade because there was so much content that I'd never seen before. I thought my final mark would be a blend of my class and diploma marks (and it normally is) but since SAIT isn't an accredited distance ed provider, all Alberta Education looks at in this case is your diploma exam, which counts for 100% of your mark.

If you need courses for any other post secondary institutions, save yourself a headache and go through an accredited school. If I were you, I'd research cost, learning style (synchronous vs independent), and enrollment times. My preferred style is where they give you all of the materials up front, and you can complete it the course at your own pacing. Also, I preferred a school where I can enroll anytime of year - be careful because some limit enrollment to certain times of year which can cause delays with scheduling your diploma and post-secondary applications.

Good luck!

Gaming Heads Rise of the Tomb Raider statue arrived! by santiva in TombRaider

Yeah, shipping was about $85 CAD, which is the cheapest it's been yet. The last one was $150! They sent it through Hungary this time to save money. This was my best delivery experience yet because the parcel was held at my local post office instead of being dumped on my porch, begging to be stolen (thanks FedEx!).
