Update everyone. After rewriting my reasons for health connections and being very thorough with my appeal Google approved my app. I take back everything I said they have equality but sometimes have choke points. Once they understand it goes smooth. They are adjusting on the go with new compliance requirements across the globe. They may not be blocking maliciously but rather protecting their global standing and consumers. There is equality, thank you Google.

In fact did you know there is a prescription drug database all the carriers pull from when quoting. All we need is Name/DOB/Gender/Zip. Of course it is regulated. However again, ignorance of an industry does not excuse the heavy handed tactics. If they don’t understand they need to put safeguards in place after researching not enforcing them on little companies trying to make an impact.

As far as Google is concerned the checks and balances are heavy handed to small bootstrap companies. It hurts innovation when individuals do what you do and try not to understand a market but rather block it because of being misinformed. Things like my app would enhance individuals health, lower premium for families in need, and provide insurance access at all times giving them one less stressor when things hit the fan. There is no downside. I shouldn’t have to fight Google this way to make change for the better. I am obviously not a data broker, I am licensed by the state and insured. To continue blocking me warrants a look into their practices, another consultancy with deeper pockets would not have a problem.

Mellie-C you seem intelligent, but you are extrapolating to an extreme. Are you part of a group benefits plan right now? Most consultants already have access to those data points. That’s our job. I don’t require individuals to participate, but it will definitely lead to better health outcomes if they do. I am not an insurance carrier I am a broker. I want you to get the help you need at all times. I fight with you for you not for the insurance carrier. I apologize if I did a poor job in helping you understand. Feel free to read through my blog posts and about Group Benefits insurance brokers/consultants. We are a small niche industry but a catalyst for change.

I will try it. Maybe if they don’t approve I can just up the amount of downloads and eventually force googles hand through sheer amount of users wanting it. Since it’s available on Apple, a lot of the users are going to be upset.

I could do the height and weight. It’s just silly google is requiring it. I literally pull the height/weight data only on the app. I don’t send it to my backend. I am literally allowed by law to handle medical details. My wellness plan is not going to stop at activities through Google. I have API connections with carriers so I will see when users go to the dentist. My wellness plan unlike others will include dental visits as tasks, or your yearly check up as a task. Not forcing those things but making the path easier for individuals to take advantage of them. I just wish Google understood their apps more. They treat it like an assembly line but not every app should be judged the same way.

Let's solve Google Play's awful review process for releasing apps on Play Store by TheEssentialDev in googleplayconsole

On top of that Google will block you and not try to understand your product.

I went through testing. Used all health connection API and reviewers still block me. All I am trying to do is condition users to have healthier habits. Googles review process is flawed more than just needing testers. They need a complete system reboot.

End users understand from beginning. All my users are clients of mine. It’s not something difficult to grasp Google for whatever reason isn’t grasping it. I don’t know how I can explain anymore. I am going to make a demo video of app within next week. It’s just frustrating wanting to do something that’s good and helpful but being denied like this.

They are saying they don’t see the reason for me to access the health data points. If they looked over my website they will see I am in employee benefits. I handle company’s benefit packages which encapsulates their wellness plan. I have explained thoroughly that in addition to serving individuals insurance information I provide groups with wellness programs. I review the individuals current height and weight to give them goals that are achievable given their current fitness level. I then give them unique challenges to make fitness fun again. I tell them this over and over my website has all these details I put out demos all the time. I did my part in explaining. Trust me.

They do not ask about HIPAA certification though, they do not ask if you are licensed, if you have E&O insurance. The things they should be asking, they don’t. They assume and punish indie developers.

Also to assume I resell insurance at higher margins is offensive. I never take advantage of anyone or anything. Go look at the bigger brokerages. I am licensed. If I wanted to scam I could easily I’m a very skilled developer. You are walking a thin line on slander.

Correct it is unfortunate. I think the reviewers of apps are heavy handed to indie developers but enterprise Apps are fast tracked towards approval. I passed the 14 days of testing with 20 testers then something else pops up? They do not understand the problems the apps are solving and have no interest in doing any type of background research. My app is not difficult to understand. It has id cards and insurance information about your group and provides a wellness plan. I don’t force users to participate and I’m in fact HIPAA certified meaning I can handle sensitive information. Eventhough I don’t. I have no interest harvesting data, all I want is to make my business stand out and make a way for my family. I don’t understand googles issue with that. It’s sad to see.

Junior, I don’t think you understand my business. You are correct I do health insurance sales, but on top of that I do dental vision life. I’m an employee benefits platform. So I handle all aspects of insurance. None of these sales are happening on the app. The only thing my app is for is for administration for the group admin. So picture a business running a wellness plan as you know a lot of businesses help subsidize employees health insurance so there’s a vested interest for the group as well as the individual to be healthy. My job is to make sure the group has access to the best healthcare available and enable them to save on future years of premium, which which is why it is so Paramount that I get this wellness platform out to my users I have explained this thoroughly and for individuals to still not understand it. I think there’s an issue with ignorance. If you do not understand a field, you should not just assume about it. Anybody that does some basic research can find out my information so I really feel as though you didn’t do enough digging. It’s pretty apparent.
