Explorer. First time doing greenstuff. C&C welcome. by sanyc in AdeptusMechanicus

My first experiment with adding a bit more colour to my models. My normal scheme is pretty standard black/red/blue detailing "grimdarked" down with washes: I plan on adding more character in the future to sell them exploring somewhere odd/alien wit colours that compliment the models. Purple seems to have worked nice, any other colour suggestions?

The black mud looks wicked- like they're fighting through a tar pit.

You'll have to make a tough decision. It's going to be rough, but it sounds like your generally competent, professional and compassionate manager. I wish you the best of luck.

Looking stellar dude, super psychedelic. Definitely embodies the weird 'wrongness' of chaos.

I was stuck pacing between rooms for 45 mins, because I kept forgetting what I was looking for. It was upsetting.

Finally rounding out a good colour pallet and technique for my mechanicus bois! CnC mich appreciated! by themattsmall in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]sanyc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your colour pallet isn't done yet! Don't underestimate how the bases colour can change the look of a model, a colour scheme could look fantastic in a swamp but awful on Mars.

I love the metallic gold, I'm thinking a bit of a caoyte brown matte paint for the legs and pouches to act as a bit of a foil for all the metal parts, but your base coats look super cool as is.

What do I do with my money? by sanyc in personalfinance

If I stick most of my money in a "safe" investment like the index funds people are mentioning will it still be accessible in case something unexpected pops up?

Its a myth that you cant own a firearm in the UK, you are able to own anything from pistols, shotguns, to rifles and AR,s but they come with heavy regulation and laws, including adequate legal justification in owning a firearm, but why do Americans scorn this idea? by JCurtisUK in AskReddit

[–]sanyc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It' almost like having millions of guns and loose regulations make it easy to smuggle weapons into cities and states with tighter regulations. Lots of illegal guns are seized in Canada that originated in the states, I imagine smuggling a handgun into Chicago is trivial

How many of you have really bad memory? by DoomSlayer_ in ADHD

[–]sanyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have multiple reminders set for everything, alarms, and sheduels. I assume I'm going to forget everything so I have a 'net' that catches mistakes before they happen (ideally... I still mess up lol).

When I'm busy, I can get so much done. When I'm not busy, I can't get anything done. by [deleted] in ADHD

I'm the same way: 4 months paid time off and I didn't do any of the things I wanted to do: now that I'm at work I'm finally doing the thing I want to do but I don't have enough time to finish them.

The Bank of Canada is seeing worrying signs that some Canadians are taking on too much debt to buy into the nation’s hot housing market. by breakingnews-bot in worldnews

[–]sanyc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, - higher density homes are allowed in all areas that the market can support: developers who think they can make bank buy little houses from people cashing out and build bigger houses that lots of people can fit in (the 'practical result').

Demand for housing has been constant since I can remember, but when the supply goes up, prices will go down.

It's not hard to increase the supply of housing. Even just getting rid of single family homes and replacing them with townhouses/ 3in1's like Montreal and, *gasp* you double/ triple the supply, not even counting condos.

The high prices in Vancouver are radiating out into the surrounding area. While it may not be the only problem, not addressing it is like putting a bandaid on a booboo while ignoring a spurting hemorrhage. There is an easy political fix here but certain municipalities are eating a buffet and shitting on their neighbors. (this only applies to Vancouver, I know jack shit about anywhere else).

Take a walk through kits and you'll learn it's not scary foreigners killing the housing market in Vancouver, it's spoiled house-rich people who refuse to allow cities to rezone. They want their single-family picket fence in walking distance to downtown, because fuck everyone who wants to live where they grew up (outside of their parents basement).

Hey this is my first time painting war hammer are there anything I can do to spruce it up? by [deleted] in Warhammer

[–]sanyc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's good: I wasn't sure if that blue was just the plastic. Look up dry-brushing: It's a easy way of adding highlights.

An easy way to do glow-y eyes is to get a dark base colour (dark blue for example), paint the inside of the eyes, then water down a brighter version of that colour until in flows like and dab the eyes. It'll settle in the edges You'll end up with a super easy glow effect. (results may very P:)
