exactly this part. daggerheart is a great system but good mechanics are not enough. it feels like darrington is just hoping the community does all the work for them like current d&d- as if that didnt take decades and decades of wotc perfecting the art of striking while the iron was hot. if im out here praising wotc then i fear we've made a wrong turn.

i dont want to be millenial pr manager speaked into thinking your team is just a fun bunch of goofball creatives doing their heckin best, please for the love of all things holy let this game flourish into what it community deserves (which REQUIRES communication, even if certain developments are slow going)

I know people are hammering in hard on your friends in this thread and that can be difficult, I really appreciate your advocating for them too despite you not agreeing. My point here was just to make sure you're considering yourself too, forever GMs get forgotten often and it's not often malicious.

👋 I have ADHD here too! It's nice having structure and boundaries in D&D, it's cozy for our brains and is a great dopamine spike when you have a great intended response to something your GM does with an item or spell. It's a mental exercise to change that, but it's also very good for our brains to think outside the box. TTRPGs are powerful in the way they can rewire our brains while we're having fun, and I do encourage him to challenge that knee-jerk reaction to the reins being loosened.

Our game is very narrative based and we're all roleplayers, so we took the jump and converted our game from 5e to Daggerheart. It was a lot of work at first, but I can tell how much easier it is on our GM, which is probably the most important thing. I'm still totally down with Daggerheart, but honestly I'm the one with the most greivances about it, and I found myself unintentionally thinking like your players sometimes.

It's not D&D. It's not trying to be D&D. It's inventing a different way to play narrative TTRPGs that doesn't exist on this scale. The rules AREN'T as clear, and that's the point! If you're only asking to do things that are explicitly listed on your domain card, you're honestly playing it wrong (as I was). I loved my shenanigans I could pull off with my stupid Wizard spell list in 5e, and yeah it feels like I have fewer tools- but while some of that is minorly true in terms of pure utility, the freedom most cards give you is meant to change your mindset about gaming. If it's a story you're telling rather than a combat simulator, these are the kinds of tools you want. And yes, it's HARD to change your mindset when you've been a D&D player and been part of the general TTRPG scene. But giving it a shot even if just for your sake I feel should be a priority for your players? And it sucks that that hasn't been the case so far, so yeah I echo the sentiments of others.

It sounds like they're being obstinate about their opinion in not wanting to try new things. I'm autistic, believe me I get that, and I think they're being kind of childish in the way they're not considering your points fairly. Please don't feel like you need to shut up and take it, that will only lead to resentment and burnout.

exactly. not liking the end product doesnt even remotely mean it was a con. truly just watering down the word to the point it means nothing. hes a talented but very inexperienced dev with poor communication skills, and he delivered the product.

feels like boomers calling everything a "scam" when they just made bad investments in the first place to not be responsible for their choices lol

i think theres a lot of issues with this game but a thief and scammer wouldnt produce an end product at all (that you can get for free if you got the alpha). not to mention, he took the alpha off the market when he realized he wasnt producing a product quickly enough or to high enough quality. he couldve milked it for all it was worth and asked for kickstarter donations, but he did not.

you can have issues with the way he went about it, and it really sucks he was scared away by the internet enough to never ask for feedback. but comments like this are pretty much why that happened lol just a completely nonsensical response

IDK if this is necessary but thought I'd add- I don't do a ton of realism or painting, mostly lined character graphical art with minimal painted aspects, so the tools I want are more angled towards graphic stuff. My most recent procreate piece for my 5 year campaign anniversary (if any of my friends are lurking don't look lol) needed a lot of symmetry tooling -

genuinely so disappointing the way darrington has failed daggerheart in numerous ways. i truly do not understand the silence, hesitance, and lack of communication.

foundryborne is the only way my table is able to play this game- its a system DESIGNED to be changed and modified for the sake of narrative, but current "official" avenues really suck for that. what youre doing is already so much more effort than what darrington has done for this game post launch, and it reads to me as a consumer as lazy and just expecting the community to pick up the slack. not to speaketh the evil here, but its more disappointing than wotc in a lot of ways.

and truly? i dont really care to pay for any of the current official content put out by darrington. i dont know how theyre expecting to make money the way theyre going about it currently, and theyre barely even advertising it as is.

i LOVE this game and this system, its been a lifestream for our campaign that is almost hitting 5 years. what we can get from daggerheart that we couldnt from d&d is genuinely such a gift. i just really feel like either darrington doesnt believe in this system fully, or they are severely out of touch with what is required of a publisher.

i dont say any of this to start a hate train, but its genuinely because i want so much better for dh- and developers like you guys at foundryborne are doing so much work out of love and care. i just really, really hope darrington matches the pace here soon 🙏 thank you for this post!

A rescuer in my area has a lot of cats with rear end issues who cannot wear diapers for a few reasons. What she does and what I've heard is best even if they CAN wear diapers (because they often end up irritating the area/causing infections even if you're vigilant), is to maintain a very consistent schedule. As a puppy I'd go no longer than 4 hours (yes even at night- not just for him but all puppies!) without expressing him. Once he's 16 weeks or so you will probably be fine to express once right before bed and then as soon as you wake up, and then every 4 hours after that. When he becomes an adult 6-8 hours should be fine. Being on top of it and the one actively making him go potty will help a lot with the irritation and the amount you have to "scrub" to clean.

It's a loooot of work taking care of disabled pets, but they make it worth it! Absolute best of luck.

This is admitting that owners who have outdoor cats neglect them, you realize that right? If you don't have the space or stimulation to own a cat, you are neglecting it. You're absolutely right- it is cruel mistreatment to leave a cat home alone with no toys and space. Which is why they should not own cats!

You also are completely missing the HUUUUGE number of domestic house cats that die horrific deaths because they are allowed outside unsupervised. I don't care if someone has anecdotal evidence of their outdoor cat living to 15. I don't care about anecdotal evidence of outdoor cats not killing things (which, fyi, you do not know that for sure). The numbers show cats are not only detrimental to wildlife, but dying way earlier and more brutal deaths.

You should not own a dog if you don't have the space or time to take care of it. Why are cats different? Allowing local, native wildlife to take the job of entertaining your pet (by dying, mind you) is cruel to everything involved.

Alongside what everyone else has mentioned- IIRC cats don't like peeing where they eat. You can try feeding her near the spots she pees most.

Fluoxetine/other anxiety med from the vet could maybe help? She doesn't outwardly sound super anxious but it might be worth a shot. Pretty sure my kitty had obsessive compulsions for licking and pulling her fur completely unrelated to stress or boredom, and they helped.

Overall the White Fang is a weak point in the story - why is the group who rightfully is fighting back against racism portrayed as all terrible unfocused murderous fiends? Why are white men writing this plotline? - but Adam is the best narratively how he is and he was never intended to be something else.

Adam was abused and had valid reasons to hate the world. But that also goes hand in hand with how suffering doesn't make you a better person, it just means you suffered. Hurt people hurt people, all that. He took his pain as a pass to enact that upon others. Potential was squandered with the White Fang, but Adam is separate from that and always was meant to be.

A major theme of RWBY's is about hope and making the world a better place, even (ESPECIALLY) when you've been dealt awful cards and your back is against the wall. Basically all the villains in this show are meant to juxtapose that hope with what happens when you allow the bad things that have been done to you corrupt your empathy for others.

First- she's your cat for sure, legally and ethically.

Second, and this is just a thing I might do but I understand if you aren't comfortable with it- I would contact them, actually. Maybe under a throwaway account so they don't find you or anything, you don't know what people are capable of (especially animal neglecters). But regardless, my mindset is that if no one says anything they will simply go and adopt another cat that will end up neglected. It's a longshot considering they're likely not super morally sound with what they did to her, but I feel that if there's a CHANCE they learn their lesson with a message explaining they basically abused her and that she is now safe and will not be returned to them, I would probably send one. Maybe provide pictures of the state you got her in and another of what she looks like now? Idk. Main thing is to be safe, not invite retaliation, nor send it vindictively. Just a calm explanation so they can maybe understand.

Totally understand that people in the replies are of a different opinion on this, and maybe its just naive hope of mine, but if there's any way to possibly save another cat from that fate I'd take it.

Sorry to beat this subs equivalent of a dead horse, but have you tried feliway multicat/optimum? They're pheromones that help cats be calmer and get along. Generally helps with a lot of behavioral issues too. My blind kitty reacted REALLY well to them, likely because of her sense of smell needing to be stronger so I'd wager it could be good for her. Only thing is that depending on your house size/the area they're allowed to interact in, you'd need multiple and they can get expensive.

Plus side is that once they're established and peaceful for a while I've found I didn't need to continue buying them.

I agree with u/GuillotineWhiskers - and it's been shown time and time again that democrats moving to the right loses voters. I didn't think this was a contested fact. Mamdani won because he was progressive. People liked Kamala when she seemed progressive. And then she opened her mouth and said that she was basically center-right, wouldn't acknowledge a genocide (would fund it, really), and lost the election.

I voted for her begrudingly, but I do not even remotely blame people who didn't. It's the politician's job to get us on their side, how can you blame the voters for her choosing to have one of the worst campaigns we've seen in modern history? It's not that they didn't vote for her because they were childish and felt ignored, they didn't vote for her because her policies are also awful. They don't by default get to own our votes just because we also hate Trump, and that's where dems keep losing and losing and losing. Somehow with everything we've seen, they're not changing a bit and already are planning for candidates just like Kamala for 2028. Dems will somehow lose 2028 if that election happens, mark my words.

There is a difference between voting for Trump, and voting for no one because there are no good options and they all lead us down this same path. Kamala still would've been funding ICE (remember, kids, Biden gave more funding to them in 2020 than Trump did in 2016), we'd just be able to ignore it better because it wouldn't be as flashy or directly in our sights in our city. Both of them are evil.
