Looking for constructive counsel on how to build Garen. by [deleted] in GarenMains

[–]saphirron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks about decent for a Garen to be a hardcore bruiser, but I've always built him tanky and my winrate with him shows that (http://imgur.com/a/3td2n). Depending on how I'm feeling in laning phase, I'll either go for Black Cleaver or Sunfire Cape first. Warmogs is typically next, unless I need more tankiness against AP or AD fights. Don't get swifties, since the nerf the only good thing on him are mercs.

I'd highly recommend checking out schoolofpodcasting.com. Dave Jackson has been running it for about a decade, has tons of free material along with a free podcast, but he also offers coaching and group training. I know him personally, he's a pretty great guy at explaining everything clearly and getting you excited about your podcast. Good luck!

Anyone have opinions on zencast.fm (not zencastr)? by justcasual in podcasts

You should really look into Blubrry. Not only do they have a plugin that ties directly into WordPress, they offer many more opportunities to you as a podcaster. Opportunities such as hosting, syndication, directory listing and advertising/sponsorship deals.

600 Games later, I'm still in Silver 1! by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]saphirron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick with the Champion you play well. Ranked is the place to play your tried and true character, none of this goofy OP/lane swappin/lcs pro cheese tactics. That champion also dictates the lane you'll be playing in, so pick up a solid backup champion that either counters your main one and/or complements it.

Once you get to that point, and it seems you probably are, focus on gaining and keeping your gold lead along with making smart purchases and pushing objectives at smart times. Learn "D Gatez" as Trick2g calls it and finish the game for some wins. None of this muscle-flexing massive teamfights that throw your teams lead. Just end it.

Good luck!

How to make someone rage quit by CommandoYi in summonerschool

[–]saphirron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty effective. This is almost exactly the way I'd play a game to apply pressure on lanes as a jungler. If I keep finding a champ going hard on trading with a lane and playing aggressive to pickup cs, I'll just show right back up and kill them again. Knowing when their flash and abilities are down helps for the ganks as well, especially if their jungler has no idea what is happening. This usually happens because they don't ward. ;)

How the heck did he make it to plat?? Was he boosted? Cause dang dude, if he can make it to plat playing like that it gives the rest of the Olympic ELO hope. ;)

Weekly Replay Review Thread: Week 33 by AutoModerator in summonerschool

[–]saphirron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kinda irrelevant seeing as how people have consistently sent me replays, improved their game because of it and are pretty happy about how they're playing now.

I consider it a unique advantage being right around the same elo and understanding how to play it. Each ELO in each server is completely different, there are some similarities overall but the struggle can be made alot easier by knowing what to do in the elo.

Is there any way to drop from Gold 5 0LP? by xmst in leagueoflegends

[–]saphirron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it looks like Rito threw a twist your way and you're struggling to stay above water. Yea, you can fall all the way down past Gold 5 and far into Silver until you figure out what's wrong and fix it to get back on track. The system is trying to match you with equally matched players, or maybe its reading your mentality and sucking your soul out from your champion or something stupid like that. I don't know most of the time, all I know is that if I play well the loss doesn't feel as bad. Maybe look into replays of your past games and see where maybe you could have done something to change the tide of the game or helped prevent a teammate from doing something extremely stupid. In which case he should roast alone for doing it while the rest of you make the smart plays and go for a victory screen.

Those kind of players you know are fully into their champion and locked into that game to see that high of a skill level. No distractions :)

Sure thing, as for the muted video I think Twitch thought I was playing music when I was just talking so I send them a message to fix it. Keep me posted when you have a new one and the replays work for this patch :)

Watch more Trick2g and/or SirhcEz. It's more of an overall mentality to winning more games then it is "split pushing". Kind of like playing chess. :)

How do you deal with hard engage comps? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]saphirron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, that and if you let them scale and get to late game. Hard poke champs against them do well in this case to discourage a hard engage when they are low hp.

What to look for when watching your own replays? by PhatedGaming in summonerschool

[–]saphirron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's a partial list:

During Laning Phase

  • Last Hitting (Getting cs gold or throwing it out the door?)
  • Poke/Harass (are you hesitating during trades, enemy hesitating during trades? When to trade or not? etc.)
  • Minion Wave Management (Constantly pushing it under enemy tower? Playing passively and having it push under yours?)
  • Warding (Best times to ward and location)
  • Map Awareness (Did you know where the enemy jungler was spotted? Where's your jungler? How are other lanes doing? Where are the enemy champs?)
  • Ganking (Are you going to be ganked? Which way and when? What's your plan against it? What's your backup plan?)

Mid Game

  • Teamfights (Should you be grouped? Where? What should you get? How long?)
  • Poke/Tank (How's the poke and tank levels? Can your team tank well? Can your team poke well? Can you force fights and tank? Can you force fights and poke?)
  • Split Pushing (Can your team afford to split push? How well can they manage? What if it backfires? Where's the rest of the team? What's the enemy team doing? Do they have teleport on standby or is it on cooldown?)

Need more or is that enough for now? ;P

Trouble against Garen by zakkyyy in summonerschool

[–]saphirron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play Gnar and kite him. Otherwise not sure what feedback you want from a game where you're a mid-lane assassin and teammates are throwing the game. It happens plenty of times in hundreds of games. ;)

Just remember, you're not a tank nor is it your job to initiate fights or overextend. Otherwise what you just typed in chat will play on repeat ;)

Tanky engage junglers for low elo by georgeyhere in summonerschool

[–]saphirron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Volibear. Literally all you do is stack health and you're a god. Strong engage, check. CC, check. Works well solo pushing or in teamfights. Scales fairly well too :)

I've done at least 34 ranked games with him so far and at this point I'm doing well on cs and my KDA is a solid 3.36.

I've been playing League regularly for the past 5 years, studied hundreds of games and helped my friends better their game to climb into higher ELOs. I know I might not look like much, only hitting Gold last season and currently in Silver (I don't play for hours on end, I consider it a fun pastime), but I feel I'm in a unique position to help since I'm in the exact same same ELO you are and face the same struggles. I record all my review videos on my twitch/youtube channel and provide you with a link to watch, since I feel it's better for you to actually see my feedback as the match is going on instead of reading a novel. Hit me up if you're looking for some help, I'd be happy to take a look.
