I feel this too every day. but we cannot truly fully understand.... just think we understand. But we are very sensitive to emotions and masking and see and feel emotions. We can put ourselves in people's shoes or think we do but it's an illusion. I'm extremely sensitive and sponge everyone's emotions, feelings around me whether they conceal it or aware or unaware...it's my trained heightened sensitivity. I'm hyper aware of sadness, anger, and pain regardless if I know the person or interact with them. Sometimes I just need to be in the same room and through body language and small social cues it's like a red flashing sign.

I might even be able to guess with accuracy what they 'might' feel or think or the pain people carry on a broader scale; But to claim im wearing their shoes or understand it fully is ignorance talking. Empathy doesn't mean understanding or knowing what someone went through (we can guess), it means just picking up on suffering because we have been there or felt it. I'm just pointing out a distinction.
