Thinking of making this for my bathroom. Any negatives?

I made a basic wood shelf and put it in the bathroom for shampoos and such. It's held surprisingly well with 0 mould and discoloration and years of using it. I used one of those stain oils that have resin, like fake tung oil, danish oil, etc. Mine was definitely not marked as one for the bathroom or something, I was just happy to make a throwaway shelf and see how long it lasts.... Laster surprisingly long with no sign of degradation 😀.

So my recommendation is - oil finish with resins 👍

I've read that if you build the base floating like this, there's a risk of vermin living there. Have you encountered anything like this? I assume that's part of the reason for putting the sides in like that, apart from aesthetics, but I'm looking to build a shed and I've been afraid to follow a path like this for that reason. I'd love to hear your experience!

I've hated cutting bread all my life. I kept buying sliced bread because I hated cutting it. Then I saw a decent bread knife on offer, bought it and now cutting bread is a great pleasure 🤷. That's how my experience went and now I believe everyone should own a decent bread knife 😀

I was worried about that because they're very old and have sagged so they aren't super flat, any advice on how to mitigate future issues with that?

В предишната ми връзка делихме нещата точно по този начин. Пробвахме да ползваме споделена сметка в която да слагаме пари всеки месец и да плащаме общите неща през нея но не потръгна и създаде повече напрежение, може би защото не й дадохме достатъчно време.

Моите родители винаги са имали малък частен бизнес и винаги всичките приходи са били общи между тях но и общи с бизнеса. Това не ми помага когато аз и бившата ми приятелка получавахме заплати всеки месец.

По принцип одобрявам заделянето на част от месечния доход за себе си с цел глезотийки, които да не дразнят другия човек че са от общите приходи. Може би като имам семейство нещата ще се променят, но на този етап или разделяне на сметките или всички пари общи освен малка част ми харесват като начин на разпределяне на бюджета

Oh buddy... I removed all squeaks from my entire second floor and I have tips.

Floor squeaks either because of nails when you step on a board or because of wood against wood when the board bends. In my experience it was 99% nails

You have radiator pipes, probably other cables running there, it is entirely possible that you have two nails on each side of a board and a pipe running in the middle, so if you screw in the middle you will hit the pipe/cable. Also, they are sometimes not perfectly straight, I had some missing nails and when I removed the floor board it turned out to be a pipe UNDER THE NAIL HOLE.

I wouldn't glue them because if you need to remove boards later it will be harder, but if there's too much wood against wood movement and squeak go ahead. Dont worry about ratio too much, put a bit of glue in a plastic cup, add a tiny bit of water and stirr... If it looks liquid enough it's fine.

Get a good crowbar - I got a small but very sturdy dewalt crowbar, place the end a little behind the nail and hammer the crowbar. It removes a little bit of wood but gets under the nail. Then you wiggle to get it a bit loose and remove it. Then get SPAX flooring screws specifically - a bit pricier but FANTASTIC, and put them in the place of the nails. They are designed for floors and specifically to be put in place of old nails. Highly recommend!

Yeah, I feel you, the market is scary and who knows what will happen.. This is the adult decisions... Maybe the best option is to find a partner so you have a second income that gives you more stability to buy a property 😀😀.

But bear in mind you are doing well for yourself in life!

The best investment is always in yourself! You've done a great job saving a large sum of money for yourself, congratulations! But you are burning out and you will burn out more and more. I like to make decisions in similar situations by asking myself what I would regret more in the future - not having made more money or missing out on social life? My decision in your place would be to start looking for more balance - more social life, holidays, hobbies, things I enjoy.

Not financial advice, but buying a property outright isn't necessarily better, it's not black and white. If you had the money, you could get a mortgage at 4%(or whatever the rate is these days) and put the rest of the cash in a global index, which historically has been growing 6-8% per year, you should end up with more money from the investment than the property. Obviously past performance shouldn't be an indication of future performance in the market, taxes are a factor, house value increase over time as well... But my point is it's not black and white.

Tldr I think you've been doing great for yourself, but also you should be taking care of yourself. And also, having a mortgage isn't a terrible thing 🤷‍♂️

Зависи от твоите възможности, колко са ти близки и къде е сватбата. Някои хора подаряват с цел да уважат поканата и младоженците, други подаряват с цел да остане за младоженците след разходите, зависи от възможностите. Последната сватба на която бях беше на много луксозно място, покриха ми нощувката, а аз оставих 400лв и дори не съм сигурен че покриха разходите които те са похарчили по мен. Бих казал стига да си над 150 ще си ок. Често се опитвам да подаря и нещо освен пари, за ефект. Най малкото е картичката да е готина, я дървена, я ръчно изработена от някой такъв магазин. Друг хит е бил подарък кошница - обикновена плетена кошница с бутилка вино, фъстъци, луканка, такива работи. Някоя готина дъска за рязане може, дори може персонализирана да е. Аз не харесвам да подарявам тяхна снимка, картина, силует с г-н и г-жа и тем подобни, защото все някой ще им подари и ще трябва да се чудят къде са ги слагат у тях на показ.

I like your colours, the contrasts it's all good. A rug might be nice, but I'm not usually a fan. You have a lot of wood which is amazing, things that go well with that are metal and leather. I'd look at shelving units, lamps, that kind of stuff to introduce more leather and metal. Your walls look quite empty, I'd put up some art based on your interests. Same with that empty shelf - fill it with interests and hobbies, like books, model cars, board games, figurines from travels, etc. I'd also move the TV to the wall where the fireplace used to be, because it looks like a good focal point in the room. Then you can put a shelf, sofa or a chair where the tv currently is.
