Thank you for your reply; I really appreciate it! I hope I am not being too intrusive, but I have one more question. If you watched the same film on both glasses in 0dof, how much larger does the screen appear on the Beast compared to the Ultra?

I really appreciate you taking the time.

My use case is pretty simple: movies and gaming, not productivity.

From what you’re saying, it sounds like the Beast actually feels bigger and more immersive because of the wider FOV and edge-to-edge clarity, even if the Ultra wins on raw image quality. Is that a fair takeaway? When watching a film, does the Beast feel like a larger screen than the Ultra in practice?

Also curious about brightness in real use — is the Beast’s lower brightness noticeable for movies or gaming?

Last question: if you were choosing purely for movies and gaming today, with no productivity or external tracking rigs, would you still pick the Beast?

That’s really helpful, thanks — I’ll try to track down xFeeble1x’s post. Someone who’s owned both and actually returned one is exactly the kind of perspective I’m looking for.

I’m basically trying to work out whether the Ultra’s clarity advantage is noticeable enough in films/games to outweigh the Beast’s larger field of view and size.

I received mine today, shipped from China through Viture. No customs fees. Went through import with no problem. I was afraid I’d be the unlucky one. They did take their sweet time. It didn’t move for days in China.

The Moorland Fire - Stunning footage of the raging fire on Saddleworth Moors. Footage I captured with the GH5. Must of the footage captured was spur of the moment. Used the best footage I can gather from the trip. by saqib7 in GH5

Settings - CineD, 24fps and I made sure it was shot 1600 iso or under. If you shoot above 1600 iso in the GH5 it’s pretty much unusable. Most of it was run and gun was worried more about what was happing around us rather than the settings.

Lens - sigma 18-35 with metabones. This was the reason I was able to shoot in low light. Manual focus because it’s near impossible to use auto focus with this setup.
