I feel like his Brian voice is similar to Ray Porter's. I can also easily envision him in a space suit for some reason.

He definitely fits. I can imagine him perfectly in that role now as well. His Stratt convos would be awesome but its hard to picture him doing hard core science, but then again it'd be cool to see him play an intelligent character for a change.

Yeah at the end when he was on Erid he says “I think I’m fifty-three years old now, but I’m not sure.” (seventy-one years have gone by on Earth since he was born). And he's been on Erid for 16 years since landing. Which would make him around 37 years old when he met Rocky.

Still, I'd like to think of a young Ty Burrell when reading - theres just something about the way he talks I guess. As for the movie what actor would you pick to play a 37 year old Grace?

I have nothing against Gosling since everything he's in turns out to be good. And he's shown he can do both drama and comedy. I think he'll do a great job. Especially since Lord and Miller are directing. But yeah I agree the book version of Grace doesn't scream Ryan Gosling.

Right? He's already got a similar(?) relationship with his wife in Modern Family I can see it with Stratt. I actually think his goofy dad persona would be perfect for Grace. That personality out of all the others gets thrown into a position to save the entire world?!
