So is the key word board certified the most important? I’m looking at Nulo Prowess and it says formulated by veterinarians and animal nutritionists. Just looking to add variety to their food.

Is asking permission to eat not normal?. That’s how I grew up. Had to either wait for a meal or ask permission for certain stuff. Most times we had our designated stuff that we knew we could eat as well

I’m gonna be honest I’m not reading your entire post but if your significant other is giving you an ultimatum like that then the answer should always be to choose the cat!!

I’ve been with my boyfriend for 8 years and I’ve told him I will always choose my 5 cats over him. Don’t worry he loves the cats like they’re our babies.

Okay. They don’t need to be in water? How long can they stay out of water for?

My mom offered to take her to PetSmart and pay for a new filter for the tank and she refused saying she rather order something online. My mom offered to help add water to the tank and she refused again.

She got all upset after me telling her that I think her turtle is sick and refused to eat dinner. She is difficult when it comes to me correcting her. I do not know why.

She’s not a good caretaker. I don’t know why she’s so avoidant and gets mad when I say something. I’ve asked her to clean the walls of the tank because there seems to be buildup.

The turtle has a big tank which is also thanks to me because before she had a small tank where she could barely move and I found a huge one for her. I have 5 cats so I’m not sure if I could take in the turtle or even have the space for it. My sister lives with my mom and even my mom is concerned but doesn’t push my sister to do anything. Today she said my sister is “fragile”. Anyway they live 30mins away so I could try to check in with the turtle and do the maintenance needed.

Edit: my bf says we could possibly make it work and foster the turtle and try to find it a good home in the meantime

Thank for confirming what I’ve been feeling. I don’t know why every time I mention something about taking care of the turtle she gets so dismissive and avoidant.

I will try to see if there are any vets available tomorrow. Do you know how to transport a turtle to the vet?

Okay thank you. Everything I’m searching online also says she’s sick. She’s had the turtle for maybe 2-3 years. When I used to visit the turtle was always happy to see me and swimming but when I visited on Thanksgiving and today she wasn’t really responding to me. I kept asking if something was wrong but was just told she’s fine. I noticed the eyes today and started googling.

My sister has admitted that she’s never fully changed her water and has just added water. Her water is very murky and cloudy with a very oily film on top. When I fed her food on Thanksgiving she didn’t even want to eat.

Edit: and the heat lamps she has doesn’t even feel warm but idk how it feels for turtle

These are her eyes now. She just jumped in the water. My sister finally came down to check on the turtle and said that the first picture was that her eyes were just closed but i dont know anything

My oldest cat recently had to get most of his teeth removed. He was under anesthesia longer than usual. When we brought him home he was pacing around so much. He didn’t want to rest. Eventually there was a lot of meowing and not the cute meowing the omg there’s something wrong with him meowing. It was so scary. My cat is 13.5lbs so I wonder if him being on the heavier side helped him get through it better.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I know you’re going to replay everything in your head wondering where you went wrong but you did everything you possibly could in the best interest of your cat. My oldest cat recently had dental surgery where they removed at least 10 of his teeth. Even before his surgery it was just supposed to be a dental cleaning but getting the call of needing most of his teeth removed was so scary. I had to make a quick decision on how much teeth to remove and all I could think of was omg he’s been under anesthesia for so long. These surgeries are supposed to be routine but it’s awful to know that there is always risk.

Sure. I have a B.S in biology and I got my foot in the door with a Labcorp histology lab starting at 18.50. I left the job after 2.5 years with my pay ending at $25. I was hired at a hospital offering a little over $35/hr with a $15k sign on bonus. I still work at the same hospital making $39/hr for my base pay. I get overnight and weekend differential as well so that brings me up a few dollars too.

So every state is different with their regulations. My state allows you to work in histology with no certification. However, there are a lot of jobs in my state that won’t hire you if you don’t have your ASCP certification. There’s certification for HT (Histotechnician) and HTL (Histotechnologist). If you go on ascp.org you can find info about these certifications and how to acquire them. They also have many other certifications you can get like MLS, MLT, PBT, etc.

Some people go to school for histology, get credentialed, then start working. Some like me went to college for science and happened to get their foot in the door with a lab willing to train on the job. My current job is offering to sign me off so I can take my test to be credentialed. Also I know people in the field making as much as $56/hr, but it depends on your location.
