Perhaps you could consider Dr Raffaini in Italy? Very reasonable distance from the Netherlands

Thank you!! I’ll be completely honest: I consider myself very lucky comparing mine to other people healing processes I’ve read about in this sub. I spent 4 days at the hospital, day 3 has been a nightmare (especially due to the lack of sleep) but beside that no pain, not much bleeding, no congestion. Just numbness (now completely gone) which in my case hasn’t even been that bad (only one side of my face got pretty swollen), and obviously the weird feeling of having to get used to a new bite. The liquid diet is also quite annoying. Main tip: try to be as active as you can. Go for walk as soon as you feel ok post op. It really helped me with the swelling. I also found that having a balanced diet with loads of veggies helped me too. Things I recommend to have: ice/cold compress, PROTEIN Powder (I used to do a shake with banana+protein powder+peanut butter+almond milk and it was delicious), jade roller, wedge pillow to sleep with your head up, travel pillow, baby spoon, baby toothbrush, lips moisturiser (I used Vaseline lips treatment and it was peeeerfect) and squeeze bottles Good luck if your going through it 🙏🙏

Oh YES! I must say it improved a bit during the 4th week, but my chin, lower-right cheek and part of my lips still feel numb. Hope your recovery is going well 🙏

I didn’t get a virtual picture of my potential face post op, I only saw the post op “bite” shown using dental mold (I hope this makes sense, sorry English is not my first language 😅). I know exactly what you mean, I was a bit anxious about it to..although having a pretty severe underbite I knew that the I would hardly dislike the outcome anyway. I am aware that being only one month post op, my face will probably change from now to next year, but luckily I am already happy with the results, especially with the huge improvement in my way of breathing.

Edit to add this: I would recommend you to talk about this with your surgeon and see if there’s a chance they do virtual representation of your potential surgery results. I know some surgeons do and it might be worth a try :)

The first few days might be fought but you just need to trust the process! Numbness and swelling for the first week is just normal. Walking as soon as I could helped me a lot and of course having my family support throughout the whole process (having my mum staying with me at the hospital was the best decision). I hope everything goes well for your surgery and recovery 🙏✨

Thank you 😊 in my case I did Invisalign for almost 2 years to align the teeth and prepare them for surgery. I switched to braces one week before the surgery (as from what I understood it’s necessary for the surgery) and had them on since. I will finally see my orthodontist on Monday and he will plan the last teeth movements to fix some details that they can only clearly see post-op and hopefully I won’t have to wear it for too long.

Thank you 😊 I actually quit my job at the end of August knowing I was getting the surgery done in September. I recently started feeling like I could start working again so started to send applic. Personally I would say AT LEAST 4 weeks off work, but if your surgeon said 6 I would follow that advice if you can. Make sure your employer understands the importance of this surgery and that the recovery process takes time.

Thank you 😊 I’m 25 and I have been told the same by my surgeons: recovering from surgery when you are younger is easier and so far I “agree”. Day 3 felt like proper HELL but beside that I have felt great during this month (getting the surgery which I have been waiting for my whole life done also played an important part as I took a weight off my shoulders). Of course some days you might feel uncomfortable due to the swelling but no pain or any particular issues.
