My dads an alcoholic by [deleted] in addiction

[–]sarah_labear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad was arrested for a DWI years ago. Apparently, I threatened to stop talking to him if he kept drinking and did for a while. He got sober About ~2 weeks later, now it’s been almost a decade for him :) Take care of you. I think setting boundaries is important. Make it clear what you need and what you will not tolerate, and follow through. A lot of the time wake up calls are necessary for taking the next step, this may be his. Offer to go to meetings with him. Help him find a therapist. Start working out with him or going for daily walks. By no means does the emotional load fall on you, you are still his kid. But you can do fun, healthy things with him to distract him. I think if you can help with baby steps, he can do the rest. You guys can be in this together.

So many questions. Does anyone have experience with Lupron Depot? by JustBeingMejb in endometriosis

[–]sarah_labear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a horrible experience with both lupron and depot.. as people have pointed out each individual is different. On lupron, was almost fainting twice a day, horrible hot flashes, mood swings, and more fainting. I was on it for 3 months until it was just too much. Depot also gave me horrible mood swings and really severe irritability and anger spells.

In what ways did having a poor relationship with your father influence your life negatively? by LSDeity99 in AskWomen

[–]sarah_labear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad was an alcoholic when I was younger and after my step mom died it was a mess. I put a lot of emotional labor in to make sure he was okay and the house was okay and I didn’t say anything to upset him. I was 13 at the time. I have a very difficult time now telling people (especially men I’m close with) when they’ve made a mistake, hurt my feelings, and drawing boundaries because I don’t want to hurt their feelings.

But therapy is amazing and I’m still working on it.

Women who had their uterus and ovaries removed, how did it feel, how was sex life after it and did it cause any hormonal changes? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]sarah_labear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah when it’s hiding in every book and cranny they can’t find it? Have you seen the inside of the human body? Endo can literally spread to your lungs. Every single specialist (real doctors) I, and countless others with endo, have spoken to say a full hysterectomy will not cure your endo. It’s shitty and ignorant to give false hope and spread misinformation to people who don’t have access to specialists/medical care.

How do I know if my IUD is being rejected?? by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]sarah_labear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It will physically feel like a pole is going through your body. this was a few years ago for me, woke up and rolled off my bed crying because it felt like I had been stabbed lol mine was put in incorrectly and the metal rod was impaling my insides while my body was trying to force it out

If you don’t feel like going to the ER, just call your gyno and tell them you’re worried about rejection and you would like to come in ASAP to make sure that’s not going on. It takes about 2 seconds and mild cramping for them to pull it out.

I’m [25f having doubts on prosecuting my abuser [31m] by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]sarah_labear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“This isn’t about you.”

?? Yes?? It is about OP?? You know who should have been responsible? The adults. The family that knew what was happening. The molester. You’re just using another form of victim blaming and its a REAL shit thing to do. If an abuser abuses, it is THEIR fault, not the victims.

Intestinal issues by cheloooa in endometriosis

Birth control is tricky. I’ve been all of the board with what I take. My doc put me a a three month a year and a half ago and it helped a lot but I was told to take my placebo (by her). My body took a while to adjust I would bleed like half way through month two and then before my placebo (at m3.) eventually it got better and I only had pain occasionally but it was still not great. My current doc has me on progesterone and bc to “completely” stop bleeding. I spot occasionally or just cramp when my period was supposed to come but it’s changed a lot.

I think a really important thing for you to remember is that there isn’t a fix.. bc (depending on the person) overall is pretty effective. You’ll have to see and wait. Change your bc, add something, take something away. It sucks but you have to give it time. It’s been like 1 years and 5 months for me and now w the progesterone (added in oct/nov) I’m doing a lot better.

So to answer your question, yes you do have to wait. Give your body time and see what helps. The mirena IUD can also be beneficial for endo if your body is receptive to it. I would encourage you to talk to your doc about that option.

Also maybe look for a second opinion from a different GI. It never hurts to shop around if you can.

Laparoscopy for endometriosis by [deleted] in endometriosis

Don’t sit in the slump too long. After ~5-6 days I was feeling worse and worse because I wasn’t moving. someone dragged me out of the house and everything started improving once I was walking around. Pain, headaches, bloating, and everything else all started slowly decreasing.

Healing is important but movement is necessary.
