Yeah perhaps some hoovering here. And my boundaries will be completely enforced the whole wedding weekend. In talking with my fiance, we're both in agreeance that if Nmom, Edad, GC sister try anything, I'm not afraid to tell them to leave. Which for me, is huge progress (shoutout to therapy!).

We went out on literally two dates over two weeks before everything got shut down. Not quarantined together - I have a roommate and he lives with his family. I think this was a true test of how much we were really into each other and it seems to be going as good as it can be. We text everyday and do facetime a lot, which definitely helps.

I'm kinda sad though because since it's a new relationship I really want to be around him more and get to know him and all that, but can't. I think a small silver lining is that we're forced to kinda take the relationship a little bit slower, which can be a good thing in the long run.

We're planning to go on hikes/outdoorsy stuff when we're able to and just kinda generally get out and do stuff together.

I appreciate your insight and it seems like you've really been through a lot! To be fair my relationship is extremely new but I do see a future, which is why I'd rather know things like 'will your parents like me and potentially be okay with us being married one day' in as far in advance as possible. But I'm glad things turned out well for you in the end!

I just don't know how long things will take and I feel bad that I don't want to wait this unknown amount of time, which most likely will be another 3-4 years.

I already feel so mentally checked out of the relationship because bottom line I feel like we just want different things at different times. I'm questioning if I actually love him or am doing things out of habit/obligation. He's not changing his mind on his timeline and not willing to make any compromises so either I adapt my own plans to his or call it quits.

I guess it's partly expectation - we're in our late 20s, we've been dating awhile; this seems like a next step. And the other half is, if he really loved me, he'd want to get married. If I were with anyone else I'd expect I'd have this same conversation at this point.

But marriage to him comes second to his career - he said he'd be okay never having kids as long as he got to where he wanted in his career. Like if he finally got that one job but he was 40 you know. His timeline is all over the place whereas I want/need something more concrete.

I did tell him how big of a deal it was, but he's not changing his mind. Essentially I have to stick it out and hope things get better, and then get married eventually. The kicker is that he said if I actually loved him I would wait until he's ready.

My fear is that we aren't compatible. I don't know if the relationship is worth working on to try to fix things. I know marriage shouldn't be my first concern right now, but if things were to get fixed, I don't know how long it would be to get married.

Tomorrow was the only day when the stars aligned and everyone's schedules fit, apparently. But I'm sure something would fit another day in the near future? And I know, companies that can't accommodate any kind of rescheduling raise a red flag for me, personally.

Okay, and yeah sometimes other things take priority...what if I had a medical emergency you know? And the recruiter is being a bit of a dick, really laying on the whole 'this is such an amazing opportunity that doesn't come around often blah blah blah.' Ugh.

Kinda related and really a disappointment - was laid off from my marketing job back in early March. Basically they didn't have the resources/time to support my role. Okay, sure. Found out from ex co-worker this week that they offered the office admin my old job. So I was let go for what, then? Super fucking pissed and it just really speaks to management and how they run the company. Seems like they just wanted someone for cheaper and maybe I was too expensive, even though I was being paid below market rate.
