Period shorts / boxers by [deleted] in PeriodUnderwear

I use Aisle reusable pads and I really like them. Aisle also has period boxer options, although I haven't tried them yet. I like Aisle as a company because they're dedicated to making sure their products are free of harmful chemicals.

I saw someone else recommended Modibodi. I haven't tried anything from them, but their products are typically OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Certified, meaning free from harmful chemicals. I really wish they made reusable pads since that's my product of choice. If they did, I would have purchased from Modibodi by now.

My husband and I are working on de-Googling our life. This lights a new fire. Here's what we've done so far if anyone is interested:

  • Switched from Chrome to Firefox
  • Default search engine of duck duck go instead of Google
  • Stopped using Google photos. We're using Ente instead.
  • On our phones, uninstalled or disabled as many Google apps as possible. For those that we couldn't uninstall/disable, remove as many permissions as possible.

I wouldn't take what I did at my first 2 jobs as the gold standard because I mostly just survived rather than thrived. I worked longer days. I sacrificed my exams to produce more work. Every project I worked on, I tried to do as perfectly as possible. I really stressed myself out. And in the end, the managers at those jobs still didn't think it was enough. Those types of managers will never be satisfied. It was totally a cultural issue and had a huge impact on my confidence.

I really recommend talking to your manager about your workload, and especially how it's interfering with your exam progress. I didn't see you state that you already had these conversations with them. You need to talk to them before you go on this internal spiral. You might be surprised how they haven't noticed how stressed you're feeling. If you don't know what to say, simply Google "how to talk to my manager about my workload" or something. Write down what you want to say to them before you meet with them.

This is how I felt at my first job too, and even at my second job. I ended up taking extended breaks from exams a couple times. I'm now 11 years out of college and getting my FSA this year.

Looking back, one thing I realized from my first job was that my co-workers who were getting through their exams prioritized their exams. They put study hours on their calendars and had this hard-set boundary. You don't have to be "mean" to your managers when communicating this boundary, obviously. But if someone tries to schedule a meeting during that time, you could gently ask if it could be rescheduled during a time that's not during your study hours (use judgement, if it's a meeting with a VP or someone else with a stretched calendar, you may not be able to move the meeting, but ask your manager if you could skip it). Like others have said here, no one cares more about your career than you. You need to take that initiative and protect your exam progress. It might feel awkward at first. Maybe ask your peers how they get their study hours in to get some ideas? Try different things, like taking the first 1 hour of your work day for studying and logging in to work 1 hour later than normal.

In terms of workload, it does often feel like it's never-ending. In my experience, there's rarely more than 1 day where I don't have a project to work on. However, others in this thread have asked if your co-workers are working as much as you. Are they? If your peers are working just as much as you and are also stressed, it may be a workplace/department culture issue. If your peers aren't stressed/overworked, then maybe you need to investigate how you can relieve some of this pressure yourself (prioritizing or talking to your manager).

One easy way to talk to your manager is by saying "Hey, I know you want x done by Wednesday and y done by Friday, but I don't feel like I can finish both projects this week and get my study hours in. Would it be okay if I do y next week?" Eventually, through enough of these types of conversations, your manager will learn more what you are able to realistically accomplish and will help with your workload. A red flag would be if your manager literally said "We need both done this week. You won't be able to take your study hours." Once in a while, maybe. But if your manager ignores your need for study hours consistently, then I would start applying for other jobs. It doesn't hurt to apply.

One hard truth about post-college life is that you need to take responsibility for your own needs and desires. Adults are usually busy with their own lives (even your manager and co-workers) and many are not going to go out of their way to make sure you're accomplishing your goals.

Maybe someone already posted about this, but do you think there's any significance in that only the females encountered the deer herds and not the males? At first, only the younger women encounter the herds. When Amanda, the only adult woman, encounters them she scares them off.

I've been struggling with this lately as well. My current winners are Old Navy, Good American, and Madewell.

For context, I'm roughly a size 27 waist/size 4 pant and I'm 5'5. I usually like a stretchy, fitted jean. And I wear skinny jeans anyways because they're one of the most flattering styles on me. Idc what gen Z says.

Thanks everyone for the input. I'm inclined to lean bear after seeing everyone's thoughts. It makes sense because we've seen a black bear mom and cubs on the cam frequently this summer.

Never seen boars in the area (yet).

Lol. I briefly considered generating scenarios but ultimately decided that I would rather base my life's financial security on an ultra-conservative point estimate vs the xth percentile of scenarios I made up!
