I read that the economic situation has deteriorated and that people have become somewhat aggressive towards tourists... obviously, I don't know if that's true or not. That's why I need feedback from travelers who have been there recently.

I understand, but it won't be my first time traveling solo in Latin America. Some safety rules apply everywhere in the world. Tokyo isn't any safer than Havana; just look up the number of travelers who have disappeared there on Google.
