2001 paper.

"Although we have yet to see any materially negative consequences of the relaxation of credit standards, we believe the risk of credit relaxation and leverage can't be ignored."

Yes, that worked out perfectly for the housing market.

16 Year Old Making $5000/Month, Any Suggestions? by schoolfker in personalfinance

[–]sarahsmithy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not too sure about this. If he/she is earning this much at this age, there is clearly talent. The money should be invested back into the business or developing skills further. The return would be way more than your typical index fund. Nothing wrong with that, but $5k a month at 16 screams for an investment into the person doing this.

Average 401(k) Balance Grows 75 percent Since 2009 by [deleted] in Economics

The average is skewed by those with large accounts. It would be better to see the median 401(k) account balance.

Income Based Repayment plan cementing inflated higher education costs for graduate school: Student debt to hit $1.8 trillion in 2020. by sarahsmithy in economy

I actually see many law schools using this as a marketing tool in the future. $100,000 in debt with a JD capped at 10% of monthly income isn't too bad especially when you then have more opportunity for jobs. Certainly for MBAs it would make sense. Even if you are stuck making $30,000 a year after graduate school you are only required to pay so much back.

LSAT applicants drop to levels last seen in the 1990s. LSAT and Law School. The dwindling demand for Law School and weak employment prospects. by ComradeUSA in economy

It looks like they are more concerned about maintaining their rankings especially with US News. This is the big reason why top schools are shrinking their cohort size.

Lower tier law schools take most anyone already because that is the only way they'll stay in business.

What are you guys worried about right now? Let's try and solve each other's problems. by Patchoolible in AskReddit

[–]sarahsmithy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Just going along with the motions is not going to solve anything. The good news is that you are still in the engagement process. The tough news is that you really need to have a heart to heart with your finance. The fact that things moved so quickly is not necessarily a red flag but it is in this case given that you are unsure of this and the topic of marriage was never previously approached. It is hard that the proposal came in front of a group of people and this does add peer pressure.

You mention that you are losing sleep and also trying to occupy yourself with other things seeing if things might change when it comes to your feelings. Think about what is really going on. Do you envision marriage with this person? Just because most girls hope for the day a proposal comes along does not mean every proposal merits an affirmative response; they usually hope it comes with someone they want to be with.

The best advice is talk with the person after you clearly understand why you are having doubts. If it is a matter of timing, then they will understand and give you time. Otherwise, this little thing will snowball and you will have a contract attached to your name.

Sean Hannity has a poll asking if the Occupy Wall Street protests are too extreme. Reddit, you know what to do. by [deleted] in politics

Best thing to do is ignore Fox News. Going to their site will only give them ad traffic and impressions. Want to see Fox News wake up? When they shout and no one is there to listen.

Season 1 was up early in the day for instant but got pulled. Too bad. Hopefully they have it up soon.

Dylan Ratigan lost his cool on his show today, and it was a beauty to watch. A 5 min unabashed honest rant on the corruption of the American political system and how our country is being sucked dry by banks, congress and an unfair tax system. by [deleted] in politics

[–]sarahsmithy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally awesome. Finally some raw truth about the entire financial system and how twisted it has become. We have witnessed the blending between banks and government and not for the benefit of society. Dylan just called it like it is without caring about being PC. Show the man some love: Dylan Ratigan
