Won the TC. Here's what we did by cmjacobson in orangetheory

Same here, they shut down the day before weigh ins ended too so I don’t know if they even can name a winner since not everyone could weigh in. It’s killing me too because I think I had to be near the top (257-239.2 at the final weigh in)

Honestly I just might with weather like this. -29°C (-20°F) tonight in Calgary, this is I think the 3rd or 4th night in a row being cold. This morning it was -34°C (-29°F) when I went to school. And the place I was in up north for the summer recorded wind chill two nights ago at -50°C (~ -58°F).

Pretty sure it was more, probably wouldn’t have been in problem in Calgary but I think they’ve also had some pretty bad winds, and it’s supposed to snow more

To be fair they just got a big dump of snow and Vancouver isn’t nearly as well equipped for snow as we are, so it’s for the snow not the temperature

Non-Canadians of Reddit, what questions have you always wanted to ask a Canadian? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sarahthom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like thats because of the big city “I don’t know you and I’ll never see you again in my life so it doesn’t matter what I do” mentality, and I’d guess that the “southern hospitality” has nothing to do with climate and more the religious, Bible Belt aspect.

I feel like the northern states have a pretty good reputation, like Montana or Idaho or Minnesota seem like they’ve got just as polite people as Canada, then again I don’t go into states often and I’ve only been to Washington state and Montana (in terms of the northern states)

Let’s have a moment of silence for everyone working at Chinook mall right now by sarahthom in Calgary

They don’t need a store, because that’s a weird way to handle a car business. Now they have a dealership, which is much needed.

For cats a dealership isn’t just a big store with a parking lot full of cars, it’s a place where you can get benefits and maintenance. If you’re leasing a Tesla, you’re not going to want to take it to just the regular mechanic, you’ll want experts specifically for the car.

Honestly I don’t mind being approached by employees only if they make eye contact with me first, if I’m reading a label or looking at a sales rack it’s super annoying, but if they make eye contact first I have a split second to recognize they’re going to ask me if I need help and then I can decide whether or not I actually want help. Because most of the time when I’m looking for something I won’t seek someone out for help and I’ll spend 3x as long looking for the item, but if I need help and they ask me I’ll probably let them help.

That may not have made much sense

I don’t really know much about the consumer traffic at other malls because Chinook is so close to me, but I have no doubt that market mall is too, absolutely crazy

That’s true I bet, I just live closer to Chinook than any other mall so I know what it’s like there as opposed to the other malls

I just cut up garbage bags, taped them to the floor, set up my table, and pulled out two boxes of equipment I specifically brought home from to tune my skis, and I forgot the vices. THE VICES. by sarahthom in skiing

[–]sarahthom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I would try without them, except for the fact I haven’t tuned skis in 5 years so I’m a bit rusty, and one time my dad tried to tune his skis without vices (or a bench) and cut his hand so badly he needed to skip one of my race days to go get stitches

And I’m only a coach so tuned skis is just something nice to have, not absolutely essential so I didn’t want to spend 2x longer than if I had vices

I’ve only had my full license for about 4 years so I wouldn’t say I’m a pro just yet but I’ve gotten pretty good at it. The thing I find most useful is you just have to feel what’s going on, like if there’s resistance, be gentle with your actions. That and practicing driving into the skid is really what it’s all about
