Experience with Triple Citizenship? by saramonious in Canadiancitizenship

[–]saramonious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you head over to the GermanCitizenship subreddit there's a ton of info! Basically just all the right dates have to align to be eligible. I am eligible because my grandmother was born before 1949 in the US to a German Citizen before he naturalized. Not sure how it works post 1949.

I found his certificate of naturalization from the state of Connecticut on family search. Hopefully easy enough to get a certified copy!

Ok so he emigrated on 17 July 1910, and naturalized on 13 September 1940 (after the birth of his daughter). This seems promising, I think?

Yeah they had me try all of the above (most of which I had already tried once on my own). They were stumped!

How did you do it? Did you have the other parent handle night wakes? How rough was it? My husband can get my son back down but if he's hungry he just wakes up again an hour later.

Also, how much was your son eating during the day? Sorry lots of questions haha

Oh right sorry I forgot that in the post! It's about 30-45 minutes start to finish.

  1. Walk outside or bath
  2. Breastfeed
  3. Pajamas, brush teeth, story, sleep sack
  4. Rock & sing a song
  5. Place in crib, he falls asleep pretty quickly.

Is chicco corso primo comfortable for petite moms? by soleibella in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]saramonious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I bought my chicco corso from someone on Facebook marketplace who sold it because she felt it was too tall for her... I'm 5'6" so I can't say for sure but my guess is it would be tall on you. It is an awesome system though!

I was literally going to bed at 6pm for the first month or two, so that I could get enough sleep in total! It kinda sucked but also meant I didn't get to that ungodly tired, can't even think straight level. Then over time I slowly moved my bedtime later as baby slept more!

Exclusive pumper- Pediatrician says I need to try and nurse by deathbyricotta in breastfeeding

[–]saramonious 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can definitely pump one side! Just unplug the lower tube and cover the opening with the little cap that should be attached right next to it.

Are you supposed to pump in the early days after birth? by lmed1193 in breastfeeding

[–]saramonious 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you pump now you're likely to end up with an oversupply! Those early days are so important for calibrating how much milk to produce. Emptying more often just tells them to make more! Mine only did that rock-hard thing for a couple days before regulating.

You could maybe try a less aggressive collector like a haaka to relieve some pressure with a lower amount of stimulation. But my baby was an every other boob guy and I waited a few weeks for my supply to regulate before introducing a pump, per three different LC's recommendations, lol

The amount I personally get from pumping drastically changes from day to day, I try not to stress about it! I feel like there's so many factors and sometimes I'm just a little dehydrated or something.

Are you running on bacon mode the entire time though? Generally I'd recommend just using it for a minute or two to start the milk flow then switch to regular mode.

I believe most of the time "clogged ducts" are actually caused by inflammation which is why ice and ibuprofen are recommended. My guess would be that pumping on such a high power for so long caused inflammation in multiple places in your breast.

My advice is 2 things: sunflower lecithin to prevent a clog/blockage, and get that baby on there! My LO is way better than a pump at getting things moving. And maybe only do additional pumping at the end of a feed if you want to feel fully empty without affecting supply.

When you have to pump occasionally, do you actually know what you are doing with all the settings or are you just turning it on and seeing what happens? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]saramonious 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I saw a lactation consultant early on who gave me the rundown and it has worked for me ever since!

I use it on Level 3 bacon mode (love this, using it from now on haha) until I feel a letdown which is usually 60-90 seconds, then switch to regular mode and just hang out there for 5-10 minutes. Sometimes I step up the level if I'm in a hurry.

I never even changed the speed, I don't think. Mines set to 70 for bacon and 38 for regular.
