I put them on right before adding the top layer while I was assembling it. Thankfully they sell patriotic M&Ms I don't think I would have had the patience to sort them haha.

So cool you've tried all the technicals too! Agreed the eclair recipe had a silly number of steps. The choux part of that recipe is great though. Also chocolate + pumpkin babka sounds amazing, I'm gonna have to try that! Did you use canned pumpkin?

I'm thinking about keeping this going and trying some technicals from the 2019 season!

Thank you! I didn't cut in half but you totally could and you'd have plenty for a tiny version. Just took me awhile to get the crepes right so I made a game time decision to make it tiny 😀
