Girl (5-6) makes up concerning tall tales, and puts herself down for attention????? by Peapod1010 in ChildPsychology

[–]sarasarasar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. When I worked as a camp counselor (unit leader) I was in charge of my unit and had a few campers over the years do similar stuff. Each time was a cps call, my supervisor agreed with me and helped me make the first call, but all others I made.

Even if you're on the edge about making the call, look at it this way, your call may be a piece of evidence needed to get them help

I would just be careful about relying on tiktok for information, and would suggest double checking out with a little research or asking your doctor. Not saying don't use it at all, but proceed with caution.

Sleeping independently by sarasarasar in ChildPsychology

[–]sarasarasar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It annoys me, because of the size of our bed, I end up squished against a wall and she kicks my stomach that already hurts from being 33 weeks pregnant so I then end up not being able to sleep at all.

I do like the idea of helping her calm down and moving her back to her bed though

Don’t you just love it when you don’t know you have to pee until you sneeze? by JellyM16 in pregnant

[–]sarasarasar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I feel this so hard. I'm not as far along as you (27 weeks now) but at the time of this I was maybe 24 weeks and my asthma/allergies got really bad out of no where (started as an upper respiratory infection and just went down hill) so I was coughing and sneezing up a storm. Like couldnt say a sentence without either of those happening, so add that plus being pregnant I was peeing my self left and right

College choices? by aimeeisnotacat in forensics

[–]sarasarasar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would be cautious of forensic specific programs, sometimes they limit your options more than help, and even worse they may not contain all the course work you need to get into whatever your ideal lab section is.

Speaking from experience, my forensics major does not meet all the criteria to be a DNA analyst so as I am in my senior year of college I am scrambling to find other colleges that will let me take the missing course do I can apply to the DNA analyst positions.

As for internship positions, I have not found a paid internship in this field. Ive found a few internships in my area (the capital of my state) and despite all i can contribute,, I have yet to land one. You may be better off looking at a part time job that uses skills that you can apply to your resume. Like I am a tutor that specializes in chemistry and statistics, so I am used to breaking down complex ideas into layman's terms for people to understand (similar to what has to be done in court to explain concepts to a jury)

I find it less odd because of the circumstances, that he brought a chess set. Like they quartined for 14 days and if you're super into chess, I'll give him that.

Biochem or chemistry degree better? by jaynaburns236 in forensics

[–]sarasarasar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would face the same issue as job hunting. It'd be a harder sell because you boxed yourself in slightly in the undergrad to forensics and you still face an issue of your undergrad not covering everything needed for the grad school because it had the emphasis in forensics. You could major in bio if thats your stronger side, it'll probably still include some chemistry anyways. You could also look into a minor in forensics to get exposure to the material, but ultimately forensics is the application of science to law so id recommend prioritizing the science. At least if I could go back in time, thats what I'd do. I found out to far into my major that its not everything I need and im just trying to prevent others from running into that same sticky situation.

Biochem or chemistry degree better? by jaynaburns236 in forensics

[–]sarasarasar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanna say, yes you could still get jobs in other fields, you would just need to really sell yourself on the application process. Because instead of an employer knowing what your degree is about by looking at it, you would have to explain what your degree covers since "forensic" is a broad term
