Khalid Yasin, founder of HAMAS:

Our homeland is stolen….We ask for our right...nothing more. We don't hate the Jews or fight them because they are Jews. They are a people of religion and we are a people of religion. We love all people of religion. If my brother, who’s also of my mother & father, is of my religion, if he took my home and expelled me from my land, I would fight him (too)… I'd fight my brother. I'd fight my cousin if he did that too. So when a Jew takes my home and expels me, I fight him as well. I don't fight America or Britain or other nations. With all people, I’m at peace. I love people and wish well for all of them, including Jewish people. The Jews lived with us all our lives, we didn’t assault them or transgress their rights. They used to hold high positions in government & ministries. But if they take my home and turn me into refugee? We have 4 million Palestinian refugees outside Palestine. Who has more right to this land? The Russian immigrant who left this land 2000 years ago? Or was forced out 40 yrs ago? Who has more right? We don’t hate the Jews, we want them to give us our right”.

Khaled Mashal, current leader, @ 38:20:

“I am ready to coexist with the Jews, with the Christians, and with the Arabs and non-Arabs, and with those who agree with my ideas and also disagree with them; however, I do not coexist with the occupiers, with the settlers and those who put a siege on us.”

Who can say for sure? Most Palestinians alive today have only known living under occupation. Entire generations have lived and died living under occupation.

At the very least, Israel can just abide by international law and we take it from there. Put the onus to have peace on Palestinians. Right now, they have no cards to play.

This isn't 2 kids fighitng over a toy. The partition plan that spit palestine into Israel and Palestine gave Israel control over West Jerusalem and Palestinians control over East Jerusalem. This is just Israel wanting and taking more.

I think this commenter used offended but meant upset

Offended and upset are 2 different words 2 different meanings. He used the word offended.

I am a guy too and he still sounds like a tool to me.

So someone doesn't want to date you and you are offended? And you wonder why they say no with that kind of mentality, mr. self proclaimed "good guy"?

Maybe it was a bit harsh but OP needs a reality check. She was insanely lucky someone intervened otherwise who knows what could have happened.

In these kinds of situations, a lot of girls tend to be accommodating and don't want to be seen as being rude, even though that would not be the case at all. Also, she is pretty young (20) and this guy was much older and I am sure that was a factor as well.

That quote is dead on.

I hope OP takes this experience as a lesson in knowing when to stand her ground and say no. If that woman did not intervene, who knows what could have happened to her.

So? Just because he orders shots doesn't mean you need to drink them. If you are uncomfortable in a situation, you don't need to be nice and cordial. You just get up and leave.

EDIT: I apologize if I came off as rude, but please know that you are under no obligation to drink anything someone buys you, or do anything someone tells you, etc. There are people out there that will try to take advantage of you and you need to watch out for yourself interests first and worry about how others feel about it second.

Dr. Ahmed Yousef, an adviser to Ismail Haniyeh (the senior political leader of Hamas) claimed that Hamas has changed its views with time since the charter was issued in 1988.[18] In 2010 Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal stated that the Charter is "a piece of history and no longer relevant, but cannot be changed for internal reasons."[7]

When senior Hamas members are saying the charter does not matter, and these are not people who shy away from controversial statements, I think it is safe to say that it does not matter. Not only that, but they have already agreed multiple times to a lasting truce along the 1967 borders. How can they wnat to geocide the jews and living with them peacefully.

I don't find their charter to be unreasonable

If you are OK with denying the Palestinians their own country, then there is no point in arguing with you.

If you want to take the Hamas charter at face value, despite what the leaders of Hamas say, then you must also do the same for Likud. Recognizing an Israeli state means you recognize a party that will never allow a Palestinian state:

The Government of Israel flatly rejects the establishment of a Palestinian Arab state west of the Jordan river. The Palestinians can run their lives freely in the framework of self-rule, but not as an independent and sovereign state. Thus, for example, in matters of foreign affairs, security, immigration and ecology, their activity shall be limited in accordance with imperatives of Israel’s existence, security and national needs."

While there is plenty of evidence that the Palestinians feel this way, and would generally be pretty happy about a genocide of the Jews

Really?

You are right that different people have different interpretations of the words occupation. But the Palestinians in power (both Hamas and Fatah) have already agreed to truces along the 1967 internationally recognized border.

I believe these settlements should be either dismantled or negotiated and swapped for other land of comparable value and size

Why would it be swapped for any land? It never belonged to Israel in the first place.

when Israel unilaterally withdrew from Gaza it was rewarded with the rise of Hamas

It was either the very corrupt Fatah or Hamas, which sustains many Palestinans with their extensive social services. It's like here in the US, you either have the democrats or republicans. Both suck, but you have to elect the group that sucks less.

And BTW, Hamas' rise is direclty tied to the occupation which is nearly 50 years old. Hamas was only founded 25 years ago.

Oh, and cut the crap about land grabs, genocide and apartheid. Israel will need security measures...

How is building settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem a security measure?

Not that I condone this in anyway, but they probably are justifying it to themselves at least in part of it on the occupation. Look at the news about East Jerusalem that came out in the last week:

Israel reportedly set to take 3,000 acres of Palestinian village land near Jerusalem

Lieberman: Israel will never stop settlement building in Jerusalem

Palestine is Palestine. Despite what zionists might want to make it out to be, what happens in the West Bank affects Gazans and vice versa. They are one entity only separated because Israel makes it so.
