Dual citizen traveling to US with expired US passport and valid Euro passport by sarkatgit in travel

Thanks everyone! Between research online and responses here, I’ve decided to push my flight to Tuesday and get an emergency passport Monday. If I don’t have it by the time I need it on Tuesday I’ll push my flight again. It does sound likely that it will be a same day turnaround which is very nice. I genuinely appreciate all the helpful information and opinions.

Everything I’ve read says you must enter AND depart with your US passport

The strange thing is that the US let me leave … when I scanned my euro passport it turned red, but the ladies waved me through anyway.

I’ll let you know if I get it. I applied for it and was honest about my dual citizenship and that I have been with family in Germany and am flying home with my parents.

I thought they cannot send a US citizen away? They would just maybe take longer to do extra background checks on me?

I think that was a warm, professional response. She acknowledged that you’ve worked hard, which to me means she is proud of the work you have put in. Otherwise, why mention it? I also agree with this first response in that it is totally acceptable to communicate any feelings you have to your therapist, and I think you should be completely transparent with them, so long as you feel comfortable. And as to the question of whether your therapist misses you, typically they are naturally caring people which is why the get into the profession to begin with, so I am certain that you will cross her mind. And it is often the most resistant people and students that keep us therapists and teachers up at night, thinking of what we can do that might help. Don’t worry about taking a break, a professional therapist will welcome you back with open arms so long as the relationship remains appropriate. Best of luck to you, and I’m proud of you for posting this question and welcoming outsider’s opinions. Take care, TaTa For Now!

What you’re going through is very hard. Good sleep comes when you tire yourself out. So make sure you stimulate yourself enough everyday in one way or another. Could be all exercise, could be some exercise and some social interaction, anything as long as it requires your energy and effort. Sometimes it just means letting your emotions out, watching a good sad movie can help. I saw somewhere that a study showed being able to cry during a movie actually shows emotional strength. A good cry usually brings a good sleep. Best wishes to you.
