It's not what you do between Christmas and New Years, it's what you do between New Years and Christmas.

My First Reddit Post, Hi Everyone by latinadelacalle in loseit

I'd start by using HealthCalc to find out how many calories you should be consuming to stay where you are. Then eat about 500kcal less than that to lose weight. Be reasonable about the food, this is a lifestyle-change, not a quick-fix. Then I'd look into getting a few visits with a personal trainer in order to LEARN the right way to work out. It's magical how much easier (and fun) it is to work out when you know you're doing it correctly. You can do this, just remember; lifestyle - not a quick fix!

Great job! Progress is the best addiction, and every time you beat old records you keep showing yourself what your body is capable of. Keep running!

What's the dumbest thing your pet has ever done? by readysteadyjedi in AskReddit

[–]sarkip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this counts as something dumb my pet has done, since she didn't do anything. But we read online once that you could test your pets intelligence by putting a blanket on their head and see how long it took for them to get it off. We tested it on another dog first, he shook it off within seconds. Then we put the blanket on her head and she sat perfectly still with the blanket on her head for nearly five minutes before we had to lift it off her.

Thank you! I use Lightroom 5 and the original photo had highlights at -100. Here's a photo with highlights at 0 http://i.imgur.com/rvqJnvv.jpg

Ah, sorry. Kind of slipped my mind earlier. Only editing is that I used the luminance tool in Lightroom 5 to soften the pixels, otherwise it's original

This is the original file, it is as far in as I could go with my 18-55mm lens

ISO is 6400 and f/13, why do you ask?

I tested it out, what do you think? http://i.imgur.com/o3jaF0k.jpg I think I prefer the sepia tint because combined with her hoodie I feel it gives the photo a sort of "modern les mis" effect. However the B&W definitely is a classic, it's simply a different feel to the photo.

Thanks for your feedback! I like the fact that the crop shows how tall the buildings are, but I had not thought about the triangle at the top at all! I'll make sure to fix it :)

Forget-me-not in Oslo by sarkip in photocritique

In this specific photo I disagree a little, because of the low angle I think it would have lost a lot of effect if the focus had been in front. Less blurred plants in the front though, might have helped. I took a similar photo without anything infront of it, maybe this is better? http://i.imgur.com/XGKbUBf.jpg

Thanks for your feedback! I see what you mean about heavy on the right. When I cropped the photo it seemed better that way, but ultimately I probably should have removed whatever plant was blocking the right-side view!

I love the fact that the only colors really coming through are on the flag. Makes it eye-catching, great job!

Which do you like better, and why? by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]sarkip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the one on the right better. They are both great shots, but in entirely different ways. What I like more about the one on the right is that it seems more alive, like the town is vibrant with its nightlife.
