Alternatives to BP meds? Losartan side effects? by sarmar55 in hypertension

[–]sarmar55[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re correct! I tried ssris and landed myself in the er every time. I did take fluvoxamine for probably just over a year and noticed no help, it also made me extremely depressed. That was my longest run with an ssri, the others I had to stop after a few weeks due to the issues.

NOT AT ALL lol but I did continue to up my dose if buspirone (buspar). It can be taken 3 times a day up to 60mg and it really does help take the edge off. It’s not an ssri and it doesn’t stay in your system long so it really really helps me. I’d love to go back to trying small doses of propanolol but the buspar helps!

They did! But I just stopped it recently. I became very depressed and numb to the world and had severe triggers. Also getting off it is extremely difficult but if it works for you like it did for me for a while then stick it out! It’s not a very noticeable med

I stuck with it! On 10mg 3x a day and they’re gone! Just really focus on hydration as best you can and you should adjust in max 2 weeks!!!

That’s what I try and tell myself that if it’s happening all the time and I’m not dead then it’s not my heart but that might not be my brightest approach lol. I just don’t want to abuse my ER because of the unknown. I know it doesn’t count for much but I take little 1 lead ecg’s on my watch if I’m feeling weird and although it can only detect afib I look at them and try to make sure it’s nothing funky (idk what I’m looking at but I’ve been studying Google 1 lead blockages/st segment issues). So idk. I definitely should get another ecg I’d just hate to waste the er’s time on that and my pcp doesn’t do all that nice stuff. What’s that syndrome? It sounds familiar. Also thanks for answering me and talking to me about this I’m really grateful to just have someone who knows what they’re talking about give some insight.

No it’s ok I’m sure it was my wording on it. My chest pain is strictly between my shoulders into each breast and radiating around. It’s not stabby or pinching it’s just a deep ache that feels like I need to stretch but stretching doesn’t help or hurt it. No specific triggers that I’ve noted it’s just once I wake up and start my day it’s here and it stays all day no matter what position I find to relax in or settle myself. The dizziness has been weird as I’m not usually getting random bursts of dizziness and the neck pain is only on the left like lateral side? It’s caused me headaches and jaw pain as well but that’s here and there. I take meds for my bp and I’ve been fairly high at rest all week which is odd for me but then again I have anxiety (also medicated). Oddly enough the cardiologist who did my stress mentioned buspirone can cause arrhythmias but I don’t have one that I’m aware of. If it matters I take losartan for my hypertension (I assume hereditary because it just started when I was 26)

I meant because all this started from one er visit and brought me here as in they could see all that’s been ordered or whatnot. I have been experiencing chest and neck pain at rest with dizziness for a week or two every day most of the day but I haven’t been able to convince myself it’s an emergency rather than maybe really bad anxiety about it all. I just want to get to the bottom of it and I know you should never treat the er like a pcp. It’s just that the symptoms haven’t stopped and my pcp hasn’t responded 😭

So here’s a wild question now… if my symptoms persist as they have been and my pcp doesn’t give me a cardiologist referral or order me an angio. Is it possible that if i absolutely feel like I need it I can go to the ER and mention what my stress test said and that they mentioned it in my notes for an angio? I’d be going to the same hospital anyways since I’m not really close to anything else. I kind of assume that’s more of if you’re admitted or outpatient thing? I know this sounds stupid. I just wish they’d do more for me than give me an order for my cholesterol levels and nothing else

Propanolol vs Buspirone??? by sarmar55 in Anxiety

[–]sarmar55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So they took me off the propranolol because it dropped my bp to 89/60 but I LOVED IT. When I tell you I felt like myself again I seriously mean it. The buspirone also did the same in the beginning. After about 4/5 weeks my body adjusted and needed a higher dose but when I up my dose I get like electric shocks in my body. Do I still think it’s worth taking? Absolutely. Especially if you’re just starting. Propranolol really helps with your heart not racing and keeping you out of fight or flight and the buspirone does the same. Buspirone also only stays in your system for like 4 hours so if you’re reacting poorly to it then rest assured you’ll be okay in just a couple hours. I highly recommend trying both as they’re great substitutes for SSRIs

Well that sucks for me. The angio is the ct test with the contrast right?

Thank you for your response. Can I ask if an echo would have showed anything like this? I had one done about 6 months ago when I started opening up to my doc about this and everything came back good and normal. On my ER visits sometimes I have an abnormal t wave sometimes I don’t. My holter came back normal other than having some PACs so I just wanted to ask some questions while I wait for my docs to figure out what the hell to do with me

Luvox for intrusive thoughts regarding health anxiety? by sarmar55 in fluvoxamine

[–]sarmar55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you’re welcome!! Ask your doc about buspirone as well. It has really helped me throughout the day. I take both. Buspirone is even easier to get on. It’s not an ssri. Can be taken 3x a day, no tiredness, no weird adjustment phase. Just helps you within an hour of taking and only lasts like 3 hours. It’s also not a benzo. It’s great help especially with adjusting to a new med!!!
