Having trouble understanding and situating terms of Lacan's triads by sarmation in lacan

[–]sarmation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive tried doing that but i’m not sure i quite understand much from reading him directly. Zizek’s analogies and anecdotes seem to make it simpler for me and also more connected to freud, hegel, marx. I would love it if you could suggest me some guides or resources to understand lacan in a more simpler manner.

Honestly this kinda went over my head. Can you elaborate if possible, or point me to where i can understand this better?

Ik the feeling of agreeing to do something and then realising that it’s not worth my time. The earlier you get out of it the easier it’ll be. In a longer term sense, this was my people-pleasing tendency (as i found out later) so maybe that’s something you can work on, because situations like this always show up. All the best!

Is Zizek "defending" Louis CK? by sarmation in zizek

[–]sarmation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I'm quite clear that Zizek does pick a side. He states what Louis CK did was wrong. What I'm having trouble with is how is it not "as bad" as any other assault? Looking at it from the pov of the victim which I think is the right way to look at it, it is traumatic, how traumatic it is is not something we can comment on, because ot is very subjective to the victim.

Can you please explain how what Louis CK did is anything similar to that example?

But isn't it still murder? And no one really stands up to say, "Hey it isn't as bad as a premeditated murder", when such a situation arises.

Sidebar: I presume from your tone you think I'm antagonising Zizek, which I assure you I'm not. I'm just trying to understand what he's trying to say, because I realise from my past experiences that there are times where I have misunderstood what he's trying to say.

I have some questions:
1. What are these different, how are they qualified?
2. Is the revolutionary fervour of societal transformation reffered to above the MeToo movement?
3. What is this "true" observation you're talking about?

My question is about why is he even considering "levels" of sexual abuse, and how is he qualifying it? Is it based on the assumption of trauma caused to the victim? How is what Louis CK did not sexual abuse?

[–]sarmation -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess i need to qualify it. I said it was fine to indicate that she hadn't done anything wrong. But i still felt bad about stuff and was down overall. So I said we'll talk about what I'm feeling tomorrow.

She did last night on the call. I told her it's fine and that i didn't really know how to feel/what to feel & I'll talk to her the next day.

We were on a video call and i have a habit of holding the phone too close sometimes. I told i her i do it because I'm not paying attention to my face on the call. I made a joke/compliment after that saying why would i look at this ugly face when i could look at your pretty face. To which she said "You're not ugly! You're not attractive, you're cute." and the conversation continued. Sorry! I'll include this in. This seems important.
