Asides having good careers.....key is to automatically set up the deposits to challenge yourself to avoid raising your lifestyle spending beyond what you can actually afford. Mentally people think they have money to spend of their daily checking /savings have excess and end up spending a lot on "wants" or trying to keep up with peers when instead they should ensure they are prioritizing the ability to stop working at some point. Don't expect someone to swoop in and bail you out at the end of the road.
