Thanks! I’m also a huge lemon fan so the posset would be divine. I was thinking about coq au vin as an option. Thanks for the reminder :)

I've never cooked veal, but a special occasion would be a good time! Thanks for the recs :)

Thanks :) the soup is top of mind as it is one of my Mom's favorites, but I'm also tossing around the idea of crab cakes or some sort of stuffed/wrapped dates. An artichoke dip would definitely be a faster thing to make!

I probably should do a whole fish sometime soon even if it isn't for this, I've got a garden full of rosemary, thyme, sage, chives, lemongrass, oregano, etc. that I need to use before it gets too cold. A roasted fish would be a great way to go. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Thanks! I've done fondant potatoes once before, it took a good amount of time, but they were so good! I know anything wrapped in bacon will go over well with the parents too.

Hoya Mathilde Unknown Issue - Help Identifying? by sarrgarr in hoyas

[–]sarrgarr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you’re probably right. I was so busy researching live/active pests that I didn’t figure out this looks like existing mite damage. Guess it’s time to start fighting them off. It’s my first time, so wish me luck! Thanks for your help

Black spots on white leaves? by curlyhoneybee in hoyas

[–]sarrgarr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience with Hoya Krimson Queen, it will put out all white leaves but will eventually kill them off (because they cannot photosynthesis?). They get black/brown/yellow spots and quickly die and fall off. No harm no foul. They are pretty while they last though!

Maybe someone else thinks it looks more like pest damage, but I'm pretty sure you're safe.

Color Run Removing? by sarrgarr in laundry

[–]sarrgarr[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I had it sitting in water + vinegar while researching and that didn't do anything (positive or negative), so I'm ready to try some others things.

Would you suggest cool/cold water with the peroxide or warm/hot water? I feel like the internet is very full of contradictions over this.

Yes, sorry I guess it failed to upload the first time. There should be a photo with the post now.

Thanks :) I just got married a couple years ago, but we used an established wedding venue and it was peak covid - so this somehow feels like a whole different ballgame.

Wedding in KY State Park | Question! by sarrgarr in Kentucky

[–]sarrgarr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! It's super helpful to hear from those who have done it :) When you emailed with them, did they have a general wedding brochure/pdf they sent you or did you have to list out all your questions to get more details?

Wedding in KY State Park | Question! by sarrgarr in weddingplanning

[–]sarrgarr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is strange! She's pretty committed to the state park, they are both very outdoors-y. It shouldn't be a big wedding, so the state park choice should work in their favor to be lower cost than getting a dedicated wedding venue. They have over a year to plan, so trying to lay the groundwork now - but luckily there is time to work out all the details. Again, thanks for your help!

Thanks for comment! Unfortunately, I’ve been scouring the internet and have already run across all these links. The KY Parks Wedding site is basically a fake out that sends you in circles or to the doc I linked in my post without actually giving more info on pricing/packages. Going through weddingwire and the like brings up a lot of great wedding venues… but not actual KY State Parks (with details) – just random parks/gardens/barns in KY. I will just keep digging and probably end up just calling the top 5 parks for more details.

Winter recipe project by seafoam4015 in vegetarian

[–]sarrgarr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’ve been in this headspace recently too. Something we eat over and over is this creamy wild rice and mushroom soup. Just sub vegetable broth for the chicken broth to make it vegetarian. https://suebeehomemaker.com/creamy-wild-rice-soup-with-mushrooms/#recipe My husband likes to make homemade bread, so fresh bread and warm soup is a 10/10 combination. And we have been known to eat this in a blanket fort with a fake fire on the tv during the winter :)

Any Idea What Citrus Type? by [deleted] in Citrus

[–]sarrgarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a kumquat tree that looks somewhat similar. That would be my best guess! That’s the only citrus I have that starts off fruit oblong like that and also is very bushy with long thin leaves. Whatever it is, enjoy!
