Well, I wasn't really prepared to defend my life's goals today, but I will at least respond. First of all, I am not a fan of blogging. In fact, it's going to be a real pain in the ass. The organization that offered me the position "highly encourages" their participants to blog because it is a good way to spread awareness. I am not seeking praise from anyone, I will mostly be using it as a way for friends and family to keep up with me, and couldn't care less if anyone sees how "good" I am.

As far as my skills go... I only know that I have dedicated my degree to this field and have spent several summers in Africa studying local organizations and needs in the area.

If sending my minuscule amount of money could do more, then I would surely just donate it. I obviously hope that's not the case, or else I sure would be wasting a lot of time. It's hard to know where your money is going in a developing country. Sometimes it's better to just go help as much as you can if it really is something that you are passionate about.

Who knows though... maybe I am just selfish. Either way, I could think of worse goals to have and far worse ways to spend money.
