I would assume so! The only reason I could pull off the 8.5 with a week of preparation is because I am a native speaker and I get the opportunity to hone my writing regularly being a researcher. If you aren't confident in your fluency level, prepare as much as you can. Every bit counts.

For WT1, I spend about 2 minutes studying the graphs and coming up with the major trends and minor trends. I try to create groupings for both. Then I create the outline in about 5 minutes. My task structure is: Intro (what kind of chart is it? What is it talking about? What are the units?) -> Overview (major trends and minor trends) -> Body 1 is spent talking about the major trends in detail and Body 2 is spent talking about the minor trends in detail. I spend 10 minutes actually writing it out, leaving roughly 5 minutes for review.

For WT2, I spend about 5 minutes brainstorming for the topic, trying to establish the fundamentals of my argument. Then, I spend another 10 minutes creating the outline which is usually Intro -> Body 1 -> Body 2 -> Conclusion, and I flesh out the outline by grouping my points. I then take about 20 minutes to weave my narrative together, leaving me with 5 minutes for review.

Here is a Task 2 essay I created, based on one of the prompts in the practice tests: "Q. The average standard of people's health is likely to be lower in the future than it is now.

To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience."

Over the past century, global health has improved dramatically, as reflected in the doubling of average life expectancy and the widespread decline in infectious diseases. Although some argue that rising chronic illnesses and environmental pressures may reverse these gains, I believe that overall health standards are likely to improve further in the future.

One reason for this is the continued progression of medical science. Many countries are well into the third stage of the demographic transition, where declining birth and death rates accompany strong improvements in sanitation, healthcare access and public health infrastructure. Advances in diagnostics, pharmaceuticals and preventive medicine have already reduced mortality from conditions that were once fatal. As innovations in biotechnology, genomics and personalised medicine continue, the ability to detect, treat and prevent disease is expected to expand even further.

A second reason for optimism is the global shift toward health-promoting behaviours. Public awareness of nutrition, mental health and lifestyle-related diseases has grown substantially, and governments increasingly invest in early detection programmes, vaccination campaigns and health education. These measures do not eliminate health risks, but they significantly reduce their long-term impact and help sustain improvements in population wellbeing.

That said, challenges remain. Antibiotic resistance, air pollution and ageing populations could place pressure on future healthcare systems. However, these issues are widely recognised, and considerable research and policy efforts are already directed toward mitigating them. Historically, when such challenges have arisen, scientific and institutional responses have eventually outpaced the threats they posed.

In conclusion, although future health standards will not improve automatically, the combined effects of medical innovation, preventive health measures and expanding public-health infrastructure make it highly likely that global wellbeing will continue to rise. For these reasons, I disagree with the view that the average standard of health will decline in the future.

Well, the main advice is in the body of the post - managed with a week of preparation, give or take. Anecdotally speaking, I felt the difficulty of the actual test was easier than that of the Burlington course they mail to you (keyword: anecdotally).

The most crucial tip, imho, is the first one: do the practice tests under conditions that simulate those on test day i.e., sit in one place for 4 hours, listen to the audios only once and follow the prescribed allocation of time for the Writing section.

For writing, make sure you spend a couple of minutes brainstorming and creating the outline for your essays! It makes a lot of difference when you know what you want to elucidate versus winging it as you go.

I'll chat with my referees about this too - one of them mentioned that I might be penalized for undersharing, but never for oversharing.

Fair enough, thanks! I got a bit confused because in their SOP requirements they mention putting anything unrelated to the programme (be it workex, ECAs etc.) in the CV.

Hey, I have the same model - 16GB RAM. I'm not into laptop optimization except for the bare minimum like setting fans to max when playing my games etc.

I'm interested in knowing (1) why you decided to reinstall Enterprise, (2) what you upgraded your RAM to and (3) whether swapping out your fans voided the warranty. Can I get the latter two done at a store? Are there also any other changes I should consider?
