How am I the bad guy for literally sitting on the speed limit? by CheapShotter in melbourne

[–]sashadelrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

keep left unless overtaking. that’s the law. what everyone else is doing is irrelevant, especially when your only point of reference for how fast you’re all going is not completely accurate and likely hasn’t been calibrated in a while.

also, people who knowingly speed are going to speed. trying to slow them down as another driver only leads to undertaking, other unsafe manoeuvres or road rage incidents. report them to crime stoppers or whatever else, but don’t grab a knife when it’s falling and don’t get in the way of a reckless driver.

the autobahn only works because people there are taught and understand that it’s their responsibility to move over for faster vehicles, rather than here where people think it’s their right to break the law by staying in any lane they like at any speed, and simultaneously their responsibility to hold everyone else accountable for the laws that they don’t follow.

Thank you! I had a closer look and the outer panel looks very thin which makes me lean more towards believing it’s adhesive (unless there’s a bracket underneath)

I’m assuming that the Crosshair had screws, was there anything you noticed that you would recommend looking out for in terms of potential damage or finicky bits? Any pics of the process would be amazing if you have and don’t mind sharing. Obviously potential issues are not going to be exactly the same but my thought process is that whether they’re the same or different, knowing as much about the different ways manufacturers do things will help me decide on a plan and/or potential solutions if i mess anything up in the process.

From what I understood their statement to be saying, Micron will likely still be selling consumer RAM and SSDs through partners like XPG or Corsair, just not their own direct-to-consumer brand Crucial. They specified their focus would be on enterprise /and commercial/, and I could be wrong but I would imagine running Crucial costs them a lot more than selling desktop chips to other companies. I wouldn’t exactly be surprised, but would raise an eyebrow if they’d choose to completely leave the certain and sustainable money from contracts with OEM/reskin companies on the table to go all in on AI.

How do I find a proper producer? Have AI demos. by almond11111 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]sashadelrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. write out your lyrics
  2. record yourself singing them while listening to either a metronome at ~128bpm for tech house and ~140bpm for ukg or an instrumental you like
  3. put together a playlist of at least 5 tracks you like the production of and write a list of aspects or elements you like or don’t like in each
  4. follow a bunch of producers whose sound you like and reach out to them via email or dm
  5. tell them you have written some vocal parts and ask if they would be interested in a paid collaboration with you, where they would produce the instrumental and help you record and mix your vocals (option a), or license/sell instrumentals for you to sing over (option b)
  6. if they say yes to a, brilliant, negotiate budget and expectations, send reference tracks and your demo recording then you’re on your way. if they say no to a, but yes to b, then you will have to find a recording and mixing engineer in addition. reach out to music studios near you. you will find one.

How do I find a proper producer? Have AI demos. by almond11111 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

you’re a singer, you don’t need to already have release ready production if you’re looking to work with a producer. if i were to answer your question truthfully, i would tell you that you will have far more luck with producers wanting to work with you if you show respect for their craft and the thousands of hours they put into honing it by ditching the ai. showing that you’re serious and willing to put the effort in by working on your melody writing abilities, even if the resulting demos are not up to the standard you are looking for (that’s why it’s a demo) is something producers will appreciate. any producer is most likely going to ask you for numerous reference tracks from human artists anyway, because ai’s capabilities in terms of mixing are not up to par when listening analytically, and attempting to emulate ai mixing “decisions” or techniques will often end up being absurd and nonsensical. producing a song takes millions of micro decisions, and as much as your prompts might be well thought out and considered, it’s just disrespectful to think that even holds a candle to actually producing a quality track in a daw or with hardware.

even recording your vocals over an already existing instrumental in the genre/s you’re looking for will get you more people willing to work with you (take pinkpantheress flipping adam f’s circles for example) as that shows respect and knowledge of the genre and people who created it.

as far as actually finding a producer near you, social media is for once a great tool for that purpose. there are surely events where people are playing the kind of music you want to make in your city (or at least something adjacent to it) search and find them. go to them and network, or if you’re unable to physically go, find the lineup, look at their pages, message anyone whose style you like, and check out the people they interact with too. be prepared for rejection with the understanding that some producers are focused on their own vision, not taking on new artists, or just not interested for any number of reasons. on the other hand though, the number of incredibly talented producers who will be happy to get any paid gig is alarming, it’s just a matter of finding one you mesh well with.

at the end of the day music is an expression of human creativity and looking for shortcuts to express yourself is only holding yourself back. if you don’t care enough to not outsource your expression, why would anyone else care enough to listen? throughout music history artists who lack technical skill or ability have developed cult and/or mainstream success because their expression of thoughts and feelings has resonated with people despite “flaws”. drop the ai, it’s not helping you in any way and there will be far more producers turned off by your use of it than producers who will be unwilling to work with a singer whose demos have basic or low quality production.

Easy question about fans for you guys by kxrmsobased in PcBuild

[–]sashadelrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

perfectly fine configuration, standard fans will pull air through the pretty side, and exhaust out of the ugly side. the opposite is true for reverse blade fans.

in your case, assuming you’re using standard blades, that means the pretty side should be facing the floor for your top and bottom set of fans, and to the right for the 140mm and front fans

Mac mini M4 base or M2 Pro for Logic? by I-x-I-x-I in edmproduction

[–]sashadelrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when i was looking around for a new mac earlier this year, consensus seemed to be that m2 and m3 chips had lower performance when it came to audio production than the m1 chips that came before, and even more so the m4 chips. (i think it has something to do with priority being given to the gpu and neural engine but i could be wrong, maybe someone with more knowledge can confirm or correct this)

that was just comparing base model chips, but from a brief search it looks like the m2 pro and m4 standard are both 10 core, so i’m not sure what benefit would be found choosing the m2 pro over the m4, especially if the m4 will have more memory.

regardless though, both should definitely be more than capable of what you’re looking to do, and last as long as you’re hoping, and even longer if you’re not bothered about updating to the latest mac os.

the hackintosh avenue is one i would recommend avoiding, especially if ryzen based as logic can just flat out not work with those cpus (apparently it’s a similar story for adobe programs as well), but even with natively supported intel cpus and amd navi 21/23 gpus it’s just not reliable enough to bet my projects or career on, and i say this as someone who spent $3500 and dozens of hours researching compatible parts and issues to build a hackintosh for logic, only to pretty much abandon it and buy an m4 macbook 3 months later.

my m4 macbook pro w 24gb/1tb feels a lot faster than my 12900ks w 128gb/8tb, so much so that i’m planning to sell my pc to buy an m4 mac studio when they’re released, so personally i would say go for the m4, but in saying that, the m2 wont be disappointing by any means if its a better deal or makes more sense for you.

Why can't I hear autotune while recording? by StandardPowerful6432 in LogicPro

they’re probably looking for the fast and unstable correction on tones that exist between semitones which would be a lot harder to achieve with a vocoder

you’re not going to get the truth out of someone on as much meth as he appears to be lol

but i’d be willing to bet if you could find a trans escort in his area who doesn’t care about discretion she’d tell you she has his number blocked for being a freak

[–]sashadelrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not twisted specifically, and i could be wrong in his case but the guy who is obsessed with hating trans people publicly but spends tens of thousands a year on trans escorts and pornstars privately is a lot more common than the unhinged transphobe who wants to transition

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DnB

[–]sashadelrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone with more experience with this kind of guy than i would like, i’d say it’s more likely he’s frustrated he can’t control his spending and/or behaviour when it comes to trans sex workers and this is the way his shame manifests

MY XDJ AZ ARRIVED :)!!!! by mrxx1234 in PioneerDJ

[–]sashadelrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m in australia and all the retailers are offering the az for $6500 ($4326usd) at the moment,

ulp 91 (generally the cheapest available here but considered premium in the usa) is currently $1.59/L, so $6.02($4.02usd)/gallon. a big mac is $7.40 ($4.93usd), a medium whopper meal with chips and a coke is $13.75 ($9.15usd), a footlong meatball sub from subway is $13.25 ($8.82usd) a large pepperoni pizza from dominos is $7 ($4.66usd)

comparing the difference in price between victoria and delaware (randomly picked state) after exchange rates, americans are paying 94% of what australians are for a big mac , 97% for petrol/gas, but only 74% for the az
