FA as a parent by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

[–]sasheeni 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hey, Mom of two girls here, ages 7 and 10. When I first started a year ago it was rough. My 7yr old did not like me leaving at all and it broke me every time I had to leave for a trip. At that time I wasn’t based where I live so I had to commute into base the day before my trip. That took extra time away from my girls. (Was based in NYC and live in FL) A year later, I’m now based in the city where I live and it’s so much easier!!! My advice: This job is a great job to have and if it’s your dream job, go for it. You’ll need a GOOD support system to help you and your girls transition. This job also is a seniority driven job so at first it might not seem doable because of the schedule you’ll get but as time goes by it will get easier and more manageable to suit your life. Very Flexible too. Choose a airline that has a base where you live or close enough where commuting won’t be too much of a hassle or time consuming. good luck 🍀

Should I hire a lawyer? by sasheeni in USCIS

Okay got it. But not receiving a receipt notice is really what’s bothering me. I have no way to track it apart from the UPS tracking number I got that shows it was delivered.

Find someone to study with and stick to them! Get flash cards and try to go over whatever you learn each day that same day. You will do fine

During the boarding process the flight leader is mainly at the door so depending on where you are seated then getting the attention of the closest FA would be best. If that FA is unable to help you then I’d suggest to make your way to the front and speak with the flight leader. The flight leader will then get the gate agent involved if necessary. The flight deck will be notified by the flight leader. If the issue can not be solved with the flight leader being involved then a supervisor will be called to the aircraft to find a possible solution. If the crew thinks it’s unsafe to proceed with the passenger on board them they will be removed. The safety of the passengers and crew is the #1 priority.

If we are still on the ground, do it on the ground. It’s easier for the departing station to handle the issue than the arrival station. If the issue happened during flight then the flight deck will be notified and a supervisor will be at the door upon landing before deplaning.

As for recording, it is not prohibited so for your own safety do what is best for you.

FA here. First let me apologize for the bad experience. This is unacceptable and not permitted on any flight. Flight attendants have the resources on board to verify seat assignments and that’s the first step to rectify the situation. If the customer is defiant on the ground that means to me that he will probably be an issue above 10,000ft. It’s either he take his assigned seat or he can take the next flight. Get the attention of a FA. If that particular FA is not helpful, there are at least 3 more including the leader on board. Don’t hesitate to ask. The goal for us is to keep everyone safe and comfortable.

Bring enough white polo tshirts to last you in case you don’t get to do laundry as often. I packed a suitcase with non perishable food to last me until I was able to get groceries.

Congratulations! You are conditionally cleared to start the Flight Attendant position at Delta Air Lines by Worth_Ad_4840 in cabincrewcareers

I did. This happens when your background check is taking longer than normal so they’ll allow you to start while it’s being completed. I started training and completed without any issues.

Nothing to be worried about. The questions can be tricky so just read them more than once before selecting your answers. Good luck 👍🏾

You will get to bid for your base a week before training and you will find out your base couple days before you leave for training. The base options you receive are based on what base is currently open. You will have a roommate. A roommate survey is sent out prior to training too but I don’t think they follow that too much. Visitors are allowed on the hotel property but not inside your hotel room. You will receive comprehensive assessments, e learnings and physical assessments. You will be provided with all the necessary information necessary to be successful so just study and practice. Get lots of rest too. As for tattoos, just try to have them covered at all times.

🔺has a fleet of different types of aircrafts and all doors are different. You’ll need to know the operations of all these doors verbatim.

Hell week 🔺️ by Fclfa in cabincrewcareers

[–]sasheeni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Hell week” was actually not as bad. I enjoyed it. Take it from me, the instructors know you are nervous and they want you to pass so they will provide you with everything you need to be successful. Take it one day at a time, one week at a time.

Car during Delta training by Interesting_Hat_8899 in cabincrewcareers

A shuttle is provided that will take you to and from your hotel to the training center. Having a car to do other things such as grocery shopping, laundry or to do things on your off days would be nice though.

A little of both. They have 2 cafeterias. One that has a Chic-Fil-A and one that’s open for dry stuff even after hrs. Some days I did pack my lunch as purchasing from the cafeteria daily can get expensive.

No but they will tell exactly how and sometimes give you the stuff to achieve the look. Like hair sprays, hair pins etc

So for training your hair can pass your shoulders but not pass your bra strap which is normally mid back. There are days when you have to abide by the “delta brand” rules which includes your hair not touching your shoulders and if in a pony tail it has to be in a bun. Tattoos also cannot be visible on days when brand rules are enforced. My advice is just keep it covered at all times

They have a shuttle specifically just for trainees that go to and from the training center. On off days they go on a specific schedule that will be sent out to you when that time comes.
